Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Prepare and coordinate daily breakfast pastries and desserts following established production procedures and systems.
- →Plan pastry production in coordination with meal service to ensure quality, temperature, and appearance of food are preserved.
- →Prepare a variety of pastries, desserts, doughs, fillings, and baked goods according to recipes and production schedules.
- →Maintain food safety standards and proper handling techniques in compliance with company policy and local regulations.
- →Ensure supplies and ingredients are available or secure approved substitutions in time for preparation.
- →Keep work area clean and organized; clean and maintain equipment used in food preparation.
- →Complete food temperature checks before service as required.
- →Assist with meal service, including setting steam tables, serving food, or supporting other workstations as needed.
- →Help with unloading, inspecting, and storing ingredients and supplies.
- →Perform daily cleaning tasks such as dishwashing, sweeping, mopping, and garbage removal.
- →Support special event meals (e.g., recruitment, homecoming, celebrations) as directed.
- →Represent Upper Crust Food Service positively in daily interactions with clients, student members, and staff.

- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and consistency in food preparation.
- Knowledge of pastry preparation techniques, dessert presentation, and baking fundamentals.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow all sanitation and safety procedures.
- Positive attitude and adaptability to changing tasks.
Nice to Have
~1 min read- High school diploma required.
- 2–5 years of professional pastry or baking experience required.
- Experience in a bakery, restaurant, or similar food service environment preferred.
- Valid food safety and sanitation certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment).
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and work in a busy kitchen environment with heat, steam, and noise.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals and kitchen hazards (hot surfaces, knives, slippery floors).
