The Applications Engineer provides technical and commercial support to the direct sales force in the areas of pump applications, proposal development, and order management. This role is responsible for performing detailed pump selections, reviewing complex specifications, preparing high‑quality proposals, providing technical guidance to customers, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring accurate and timely order processing.
This position may be located in Houston, Texas or Placentia, California.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Review customer specifications and datasheets and prepare comprehensive, professional proposals.
- →Utilize internal selection tools to determine optimal pump configurations, generate scope of supply, and process orders accurately.
- →Provide technical guidance to Sales Engineers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
- →Respond to customer inquiries and support issue resolution with a high level of professionalism and accuracy.
- →Obtain vendor quotations for auxiliary equipment and ensure alignment with project requirements.
- →Serve as a liaison between operations, engineering, and the customer to ensure seamless communication and project execution.
- →Participate in customer and internal meetings to clarify technical and commercial requirements.
- →Support Sales Engineers during customer visits, presentations, and technical discussions, as needed.
- →Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, vendors, and team members.
Requirements
~1 min read- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly present technical information.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation capabilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards (e.g., API, ANSI, Hydraulic Institute).
- Self‑starter who can work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage competing deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Customer‑focused mindset with professional responsiveness.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in rotating equipment is preferred, with a strong preference for direct experience in centrifugal pumps, pump packaging, or industrial fluid‑handling systems.
- Experience with engineered to order products, proposal development, and specification review is preferred.
- Experience supporting sales teams or working in an applications engineering capacity is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Mechanical engineering preferred.
- Degrees or Certificates in other disciplines will be considered with relevant pump or rotating equipment experience.
