Responsibilities
~1 min readThis is a high-visibility role that collaborates across internal teams and with external partners—including Borrowers, Grantees, and Strategic Partners—to ensure the seamless execution of Transactions, proactive portfolio The Analyst, Investment Operations & Compliance will play a key role in the growth of the Operations & Finance (“FinOps”) team, working closely with Legal, Risk, and other internal teams, with a primary focus on Investment Operations. This individual will support and execute day-to-day operational management, the development of scalable and flexible reporting solutions.
This position will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA (East Bay preferred) or New York, NY. Open to the possibility of DC as well.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Provide day-to-day operational support on Transaction-related activities, including operations due diligence, review of legal documentation and technical and operational assistance in managing and executing transaction closings.
- Collaborate to ensure accurate Transaction set up within internal systems (e.g., CRM, portfolio management, loan accounting, data warehouse, etc.).
- Manage the execution of documentation review and due diligence process for routine investment and grant funding to meet growing data needs, and strict adherence to organizational policies, procedures, and the terms and conditions of EPA awards. In partnership with FP&A, Accounting, Treasury, Reporting & Compliance, and Strategic Analytics, the Associate will ensure data is validated and appropriately integrated into management reports and dashboards.
- The Analyst will report to the Director, Investment Operations & Compliance. The position is hybrid.
- Support investment servicing function and review routine (e.g., monthly, quarterly) Borrower principal / interest / fee statements to ensure accuracy.
- Leveraging portfolio management system or data warehouse, compiling transaction activity data into a metric database to track performance against underwriting / base case expectations and develop dashboard solutions to highlight trends for team and management reporting, under guidance.
- Additional tasks as assigned, including: managing shared group inbox, scheduling and supporting key meetings, deal expense coordination, ad hoc reporting, system management, etc.
- Utilizing the portfolio management system, onboard and track compliance and covenant items, including financial statements, performance reports, budgets and business plans, copies of reports provided to EPA or other regulatory partners, and compliance with tax status.
- Manage follow-up with Borrowers to resolve incomplete and / or missing items.
- Coordinate future Transaction agreements to support consistent applicability of the above items.
- Participate in best practice reviews of policies and procedures and contribute recommendations to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Generate portfolio and compliance reports for internal stakeholders, including the Investment team and Senior Management.
- Maintain highly compliant environment by ensuring timely and complete set of records in shared document repositories.
- Support the implementation of established compliance programs to help ensure adherence to Federal regulations, statutes, and agreements governing the NCIF and other grant-funded programs, in coordination with internal compliance stakeholders.
- Monitor and review EPA guidance and communications relevant to investment and transaction operations, elevating considerations and questions to the appropriate internal teams as needed.
- Collaborate closely with Legal, Investments and other teams to support alignment of Transaction documentation with CGC policies, procedures, and applicable Federal laws and regulations.
- Maintain working familiarity of relevant Federal requirements and CGC policies, coordinating with Legal and designated compliance teams to remain informed of regulatory updates and changes.
- Provide operational support and guidance related to compliance matters, escalating complex or interpretive issues to the appropriate subject-matter experts for review and resolution.
- Attend conference calls and conferences to build relationships and create professional growth.
- Complete special assignments and projects as requested.
- Support policy, program, and system enhancements by participating in project team meetings and discussions.
- Perform all other related duties as requested.
- Strong project management skills, including communication, critical thinking, coordination, scheduling and task management.
- Excellent organizational skills, with demonstrated experience prioritizing multiple workstreams based on substance, urgency, and capacity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively across geographically distributed teams.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities, including analytical judgment and sound decision-making.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Effective interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work with management and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated understanding of investment and/or lending transactions, including associated structures and legal documentation.
- Experience with Salesforce, portfolio management, investment servicing, or similar data management systems.
- Strong computer skills, including advanced Excel capabilities; experience with macros, programming, and/or business intelligence tools is a plus.
- Commitment to climate finance and the energy transition.
- Authorization to work in the United States required.
- Willingness to travel occasionally in support of programs.
- Ability to perform prolonged desk and computer-based work.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business administration, or other equivalent experience. An advanced degree is a plus, although not required.
- Preference for specialization (minor, supplemental coursework, or prior experience) in Data Analytics, Information Systems, or equivalent.
- 3+ years of professional experience with clean energy investments, investment operations, compliance, audit.
- 1+ year experience with Power BI or other business intelligence in both creating and maintaining advanced (customized) reporting tools.
