Data Analytics Lead - SVP - Hybrid

The Senior Vice President, Data Analytics Lead is a senior leadership role within Prime Services Technology, responsible for managing and directing the data analytics platform, data gathering, tooling, and driving the overall data strategy for the Prime Services Data team. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of financial data related to global markets and the ability to extract actionable business intelligence from it. Prime Services Technology provides business solutions to Prime Brokerage, Equity Finance, Delta One, Futures Execution and Clearing, and OTC Clearing businesses. The Data Analytics Lead will be responsible for data analytics, data sourcing, distribution, and data quality within Prime Services and working with other Markets teams that need data from Prime. This hands-on leader will manage a small team of data analysts and developers providing technical direction while remaining deeply embedded in day-to-day engineering work. The ideal candidate will be a strong hands-on engineer with deep expertise in Python and Java, combined with comprehensive business knowledge of financial data across the trade lifecycle — including orders, executions, trade processing, and position management. This role requires someone who can seamlessly move between writing production-quality code, gathering requirements from business stakeholders and quantitative analysts, and leading a small team to deliver high-impact analytics solutions. As part of a global team spanning the US and UK, the candidate will also be responsible for overseeing production processes and batch jobs that run during Asia morning hours, ensuring operational stability and providing timely support. Excellent communication skills are required to work closely with business leaders, quantitative analysts, and technology teams across Markets Technology and ICG Technology to ensure solutions meet business needs and align with the firm's strategic direction. Key Responsibilities ## Hands-On Engineering & Development * Design, develop, and maintain data analytics pipelines and platforms using Python and Java * Build and optimize data sourcing integrations to ingest data from multiple platforms within Prime Services and Markets Technology * Develop analytics tools and dashboards that enable business users and quantitative analysts to derive insights from financial data * Write production-quality, well-tested, and maintainable code; participate in code reviews and enforce engineering best practices * Architect scalable data solutions for processing large volumes of orders, executions, trades, and position data * Implement and maintain batch processing jobs and automated workflows for data transformation and distribution * Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across the data platform stack ## Leadership & Team Management * Manage and lead a small team of developers and data analysts, providing hands-on technical guidance and mentorship * Be the escalation point for the local business and production support teams * Provide technical direction, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for team members * Foster a culture of engineering excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement * Oversee resource allocation, task prioritization, and team performance management * Maintain high standards of code quality, testing, and operational reliability across the team ## ## Production Support & Global Operations * Oversee and support production processes and batch jobs that run during Asia morning hours, ensuring timely execution and issue resolution * Coordinate with the global team across US and UK to ensure seamless handoffs and 24-hour operational coverage * Establish and maintain monitoring, alerting, and incident response procedures for critical data pipelines * Drive root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes for production issues * Ensure operational resilience and business continuity for data-critical processes ## ## Business Partnership & Requirements Gathering * Work closely with key business SMEs and Quantitative Analysts to develop an in-depth understanding of their critical data and analytics needs * Gather and translate complex business requirements into technical specifications and actionable engineering solutions * Consult with business clients across Prime Brokerage, Equity Finance, Delta One, Futures Execution and Clearing, and OTC Clearing to identify data analytics requirements * Recognize patterns of data needs across multiple business requirements and determine how to address them through efficient, reusable solutions * Partner with other Markets teams that need data from Prime Services to ensure seamless data sharing and collaboration * Guide the implementation of data visualization tools and platforms for analytics and reporting ## ## Data Sourcing & Quality * Lead data sourcing efforts to integrate data from multiple platforms within Prime Services and Markets Technology * Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness across all analytics outputs * Establish and monitor data quality rules, validation frameworks, and remediation processes * Oversee metadata management and data lineage documentation for analytics pipelines * Drive compliance with enterprise data standards and regulatory requirements ## Required Qualifications ## ## Experience * 12+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or data analytics within Banking or Financial Services * Strong hands-on engineering background with proven ability to design, build, and maintain production-grade data systems * Proven track record of managing small technical teams while remaining a significant individual contributor * Deep business knowledge of financial data, particularly in Markets business — including orders, executions, trade processing, position management, and related trade lifecycle data. Prime Services / Prime Brokerage background strongly preferred * Experience working with quantitative analysts and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions * Experience supporting global production environments, including off-hours batch processing and operational support * Experience working at senior levels with executive stakeholders and business leaders ## ## Technical Skills * Programming Languages: Strong hands-on proficiency in Python and Java for building data pipelines, analytics tools, and production applications * Data Integration: Extensive knowledge of data ingestion and distribution frameworks, both enterprise and open-source * Financial Data Domain: Deep understanding of markets financial data — orders, executions, trade processing, position management, P&L, risk, and reference data * Distributed Systems: Experience with distributed messaging systems such as Kafka and distributed caching services such as Gemfire/Redis * Database Technologies: Proficient in SQL and various database management systems (relational and NoSQL) * Batch Processing: Experience designing and managing batch jobs, schedulers, and workflow orchestration tools * Data Quality: Expertise in data quality frameworks, validation techniques, and remediation strategies * DevOps & CI/CD: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and deployment automation * Data Platform Architecture: Experience building and maintaining data lakes, data warehouses, and analytics platforms (on-premises and cloud) is preferred * Data Visualization: Experience implementing data visualization tools and platforms for analytics and reporting is a plus ## ## Communication & Interpersonal Skills * Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present to executive audiences * Strong ability to work with quantitative analysts and business SMEs to understand complex data requirements * Demonstrated ability to interact and work effectively with diverse, globally distributed teams * Ability to work under pressure, facilitate discussions, and conduct group meetings * Strong diplomacy skills required to exchange complex information across business and technology stakeholders ## ## Education * Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or related quantitative field * Master's degree or advanced certifications in relevant fields preferred ## ## Additional Information * This is a hybrid role which means the candidate will need to work from the office at least 3 days a week * The role is part of a global team with members in the US and UK * The candidate must be willing to provide Level-3 production support during Asia hours as needed (early morning US Eastern time) Responsibilities: * Lead integration of functions to meet goals, deploy new products, and enhance processes * Analyze complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards to define and develop solutions to high level problems * Provide expertise in area of advanced knowledge of applications programming and plan assignments involving large budgets, cross functional project, or multiple projects * Develop application methodologies and standards for program analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, and implementation * Utilize advanced knowledge of supported main system flows and comprehensive knowledge of multiple areas to achieve technology goals * Consult with end users to identify system function specifications and incorporate into overall system design * Allocate work, and act as an advisor/coach developers, analysts, and new team members * Influence and negotiate with senior leaders and communicate with external parties * Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
