As a Construction Inspector you spend your day planning, organizing, supervising, reviewing, and evaluation of the work of the construction contractor; providing technical support, preparing and submitting paperwork, performing field testing and sample collection, checking materials inventory utilized on site, reviewing and approving results. Your work typically involves ensuring materials are in accordance with City's Engineering standards, details' specifications, approved plans, and normal construction practices. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. This can include preforming inspection tests to evaluate compliance of work with project requirements; report all problems, deviations from plans, unusual conditions. When you are not out in the city, you generally provide technical support to the Public Works and Utilities Departments; and review all payment requests. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed. The city needs someone like you with skills in engineering and you finding genuine enjoyment in what you do!
Requirements
~1 min read- High school diploma, GED or equivalency
- Preferred: Associate's Degree in related field
- Requires three (3) years' experience in Public Works/Municipal Construction Inspections.
- Preferred: Five (5) years' experience in Public Works/Municipal Construction Inspections
- Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
