The Junior Farm Officer will support the planning, supervision, monitoring, and implementation of day-to-day crop-production and field activities across the agricultural estate. The role will assist in ensuring farming operations are completed according to production plans, agronomic requirements, and established quality standards.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Support daily supervision of land preparation, planting, crop maintenance, harvesting, and other field activities.
- →Monitor crop conditions and report pest, disease, weed, water, or nutrient-related concerns.
- →Assist in coordinating field workers, machinery, agricultural inputs, and daily work assignments.
- →Monitor implementation of approved agronomic practices and farm operating procedures.
- →Collect and maintain field data relating to acreage, crop activities, inputs, labour, and production.
- →Assist in monitoring the application of fertilizers, agrochemicals, and other agricultural inputs.
- →Prepare routine field updates and reports for management review.
- →Promote compliance with farm safety, environmental, and good agricultural practices.
Requirements
~1 min read- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science, General Agriculture, or a related field.
- Minimum 1–2 years of relevant practical experience in crop production, commercial farming, or agricultural field operations.
- Good understanding of crop-production practices, land preparation, planting, crop maintenance, and harvesting.
- Basic knowledge of fertilizers, crop protection, weed management, and agricultural inputs.
- Ability to supervise and coordinate field workers and daily agricultural activities.
- Good record-keeping, reporting, and basic computer skills.
- Strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and field-observation skills.
- Experience in large-scale commercial agriculture will be an added advantage.
