The Assistant Center Director is responsible for working directly with Teachers/Family Service Workers to ensure that high-quality educational activities are taking place in the classrooms and that families are being engaged in the program.

Responsibilities

  1. Ensure, with the Center Director, the effective day to day operations of the Center and assume the role of the Center Director in their absence.
  2. Ensure Head Start and Early Education programs are in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.
  3. Make recommendations for hiring, promotions and disciplinary actions.
  4. Maintain and improve the highest quality program staffing by providing onboarding, orientation and training.
  5. Provide leadership and supervision to assigned staff, and communicate effectively expectations and desired outcomes
  6. Schedule and arrange for substitutes, in collaboration with Teachers, to ensure that staff ratios are consistently met.
  7. Ensure that classroom environments are nurturing, educational and support the individual needs of children.
  8. Collaborate with the Education Coach to ensure quality of classroom instruction by monitoring and conducting regular observations and walkthroughs.
  9. Direct the development and assessment of weekly curriculum plans.
  10. Serve as a resource to the teaching staff on program policies and procedures.
  11. Actively engage families to be part of the center activities and the child’s educational experience.
  12. Actively work with families to identify specific personal and family needs and provide referrals to community resources that can help meet these needs.
  13. Maintain accurate client case records and reports as required and update client information in Child Plus database.
  14. Conduct monthly one on one supervision with employees and create annual year end professional development plans.
  15. Prepare and deliver timely, constructive, and comprehensive performance reviews in accordance with organizational deadlines and performance management policies.
  16. Uphold the values of CTI – Equity, Integrity, Compassion.

Requirements

  1. Associate’s degree in early childhood education required.
  2. Minimum one-year supervisory experience in an early education setting required.
  3. Strong proven leadership and decision-making abilities.
  4. Desire to work with low income, culturally diverse, and at-risk families and individuals.
  5. Excellent Customer Service, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  6. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Proficient computer skills required in basic computer software and data collection systems.
  8. Excellent crisis management skills.
  9. Proof of recent physical and MMR immunity
  10. Ability to pass background check which includes fingerprinting
  1. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish, English/Khmer English/Portuguese)
  2. Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education preferred.
