Reliability Technician

The Reliability Technician at Crenlo’s Rochester, MN production facility is a critical position within the Plant Engineering and Maintenance Team.  This individual has opportunity to utilize their technical expertise to drive improvements in production equipment reliability and uptime utilizing data analysis and the principles of preventive and predictive maintenance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• →Takes ownership for the uptime performance of critical production equipment.
• →Performs troubleshooting on down equipment to investigate for repair actions as well as opportunities for preventive and predictive maintenance.
• →Utilizes the maintenance management system to create or update preventive and predictive maintenance procedures which are aimed at preventing future failures and maximizing machine uptime.
• →Utilizes equipment production data from machine interfaces, PLCs, and other sources to identify opportunities for improvements.
• →Analyzes data from vibration, infrared, and other diagnostic tools to detect early signs of equipment failure and schedule repairs during planned downtime.
• →Collaborates with engineers, maintenance team members, operators, supervisors, and third party vendors to identify and implement improvement plans.
• →Provides training for engineers, maintenance team members, and supervisors to support new methods of working to drive reliability improvements.
• →Supports planning for the execution of production equipment improvement projects.
• →Fosters productive working relationships with third party equipment vendors to identify and implement improvements.
• →Identifies and communicates workplace hazards and corrects or seeks assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions. 
• →Maintains a high level of housekeeping standards and organization of assigned work areas.  
• →Assists in the development and deployment of departmental policies and procedures.  
• →Other duties as assigned. 

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: 

• →Expertise in general production equipment systems including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical.
• →Expertise in integrated machine systems including PLC, common machine interfaces, and production and network data collection and storage.
• →Familiar with basic maintenance management systems.
• →Solid root cause troubleshooting skills and ability to drive thorough root cause analysis.
• →Effective team work skills
• →Problem prevention and problem-solving skills required. Must be solution oriented. 
• →Proven ability to multitask with excellent time management skills. 
• →Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate at all levels of the organization. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

• →High school diploma required. Two year technical degree preferred.
• →Previous experience in a production maintenance function is preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS/OTHER: 

• →Work Hours/Status:  Mainly 1st shift hours with some overlap to 2nd shift for continuity. 
• →Environment:  Frequent exposure (34%-66%) to noise, odors, dust, drafts, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, hazardous substances, etc. 
• →Physical Requirements statement(s): Sitting/Standing, free to move around. Repetitive manual movements.
