The Proposal Engineer creates, manages, and delivers technical and commercial proposals, bids, and cost estimates in response to client requirements, primarily in manufacturing, construction, and engineering industries. Acting as a crucial link between sales and technical teams, analyzes project specs to ensure profitability, feasibility, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Proposal Development: Leading the end-to-end creation of proposals, including technical writing, scope definition, and document formatting.
- Cost Estimation: Preparing detailed cost estimates, including labor, materials, and equipment, to ensure competitive bids.
- Technical Analysis: Translating complex technical solutions into persuasive, easily understood content.
- Collaboration: Working with sales, project management, and engineering teams to validate project feasibility.
- Client Interface: Acting as a point of contact to clarify project requirements and technical queries.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, etc.), manufacturing, or a related technical field is typically required.
- Technical Aptitude: Strong understanding of technical specifications, CAD software, and industry standards.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and CRM/proposal software.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing proposals and presenting solutions.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
