    • Job Description/Duties
    • The Social Media Student Assistant supports the Warrior Fab Lab's marketing, communications, and outreach efforts by creating engaging digital content that promotes programs, events, services, and student success. Working collaboratively with faculty and staff, the Student Assistant develops social media campaigns, captures photo and video content, designs marketing materials, and represents the department at campus outreach and recruitment events. The Student Assistant helps maintain a consistent, professional, and accessible digital presence while engaging prospective and current students both online and in person.

      Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Create compelling multimedia content, including graphics, photography, video, and written content for departmental social media platforms, digital communications, and marketing materials while maintaining university branding standards.
      • Capture, edit, and produce photo and video content for events, student activities, workshops, Warrior Wednesday, Annual Maker Symposium, New Student Orientation (NSO), and other departmental and university events.
      • Assist with planning, scheduling, publishing, and maintaining content using Outlook, Warrior Life, and 25 Live.
      • Manage departmental social media accounts by monitoring engagement, responding appropriately to comments and messages, tracking analytics, and recommending strategies to improve audience engagement and content performance.
      • Represent the department during recruitment activities and other outreach events by staffing information tables, engaging prospective and current students, and promoting departmental programs and services.
      • Assist with the planning, promotion, setup, execution, and breakdown of workshops, outreach events, tabling activities, and special events while documenting activities through photography and video.
      • Maintain organized digital asset libraries and assist with website updates, newsletters, and other digital communications as assigned.
      • Research emerging social media trends, digital marketing strategies, and platform best practices to recommend innovative content ideas.
      • Ensure all digital content complies with university branding, copyright, accessibility, and communication standards.
      • Attend required training and occasional evening events.
      • Other duties as assigned.

       

    • Qualifications
    • Preferred Qualifications:
      • Experience creating and managing content for organizational, campus, nonprofit, or business social media accounts.
      • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications or similar graphic design and video editing applications.
      • Strong photography, videography, and video editing skills, including experience creating engaging short-form content for platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.
      • Knowledge of current social media trends, platform algorithms, audience engagement strategies, and digital marketing best practices.
      • Excellent written communication skills with attention to grammar, style, and audience.
      • Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive digital communication.
      • Excellent organizational, project management, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, work independently, and collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
      •  Experience with event promotion, student outreach, recruitment activities, customer service, student leadership, marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or related fields.

      Required Qualifications:
      • Must be enrolled as an undergraduate student in a minimum of six (6) units during the Fall and Spring semesters.
      • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
      • Ability to represent the department and the university professionally in both digital and in-person settings.
      • Ability to follow safety procedures and work responsibly with minimal supervision.
      • Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service in a collaborative and inclusive learning environment.
      • Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
    • Salary Range
    • $17.00 per hour.
