We are seeking 2 motivated and collaborative Assistant Environmental Water Management Officers to support the delivery of environmental water programs across NSW.

About the Role

In this role, you will contribute to the planning, implementation and monitoring of water management initiatives that protect and enhance rivers, wetlands and floodplains.

Working closely with internal teams, landholders, government agencies and community stakeholders, you will help deliver projects that achieve positive environmental outcomes.

Your work will include supporting environmental watering plans, undertaking field-based monitoring activities, analysing data, and preparing reports and briefings to inform decision-making.

This is an exciting opportunity to apply your technical knowledge and project skills in a dynamic environment, where you will help balance ecological, community and regulatory considerations to improve water use and conservation outcomes

We are looking for a motivated and adaptable professional with a strong interest in environmental water management and a passion for delivering positive outcomes for rivers, wetlands and floodplains.

You will bring demonstrated knowledge in water, river or wetland management, along with the ability to analyse data and translate technical information into clear, practical insights. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, as you will work closely with landholders, agencies and community partners to support the delivery of environmental watering programs.

You are organised and proactive, able to manage competing priorities and contribute to project delivery from planning through to implementation and reporting. Your ability to think critically, solve problems and adapt in a dynamic environment will be key to your success.

Most importantly, you are a collaborative team player who is committed to protecting the environment, building relationships and contributing to meaningful outcomes for communities and ecosystems across NSW.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in water, river and/or wetland management, including the hydrology and/or ecology. Experience would ideally be in the Northern Murray Darling Basin with the Barwon-Darling, Intersecting Streams, Namoi and/or Border Rivers being highly favourable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of working with multiple stakeholders, including landholders.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in biological sciences and/or natural resource management or equivalent relevant experience.
  • A valid NSW driver’s licence
