This is an Aboriginal Identified role where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977). 

 

As a Project Officer, you'll support the design, delivery and evaluation of projects that enhance the employment experience and workforce outcomes of Aboriginal employees across our department. Working closely with stakeholders, you'll develop project plans, undertake research and analysis and contribute to initiatives that strengthen cultural safety, capability and engagement.

Our team is made up of 6 Identified roles. Everything we do is to improve the Aboriginal employee experience at Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI). That means working closely with mob to understand their experiences at work and to make sure their lived experience shape our outcomes. This also takes shape through working with employees and leaders across the department to build organisation capability when it comes to attracting, recruiting, and onboarding, and supporting the growth and belonging of mob in our workplace.

 

2 x experienced Project Officers to support us to deliver projects and other activities that are commitments in the DPHI Aboriginal Workforce Plan.

  • Researching and evaluating with a cultural lens
  • Engaging with internal and sometimes external stakeholders
  • Designing, delivering and evaluating projects with culture at the centre
  • Bringing your curiosity, creativity and problem-solving skills to work everyday
  • Advocating for and leading change  
  • Having the confidence and capability to communicate and negotiate with a diverse range of stakeholders across a range of activities including online and face-to-face presentations and workshops

 

  • Respect and understanding of Aboriginal cultural issues impacting Aboriginal people and communities
  • Experience in developing, delivering and evaluating cultural projects and other outcomes
  • Working in a team that has a diverse audience, including Aboriginal employees, non-Aboriginal employees and teams, leaders, senior executive and external stakeholders

  • Demonstrated knowledge, respect and understanding of Aboriginal cultural issues and strong experience supporting the development, implementation and review of Aboriginal cultural strategies, policies and procedures.
