  • Salary relative to experience ranging from $173,121 to $191,993 + superannuation & annual leave loading

The Financial Control and Reporting team within the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) deliver enterprise-wide financial governance, assurance and policy frameworks across the portfolio.

We partner with senior leaders, NSW Treasury and key stakeholders to strengthen financial management practices, ensure compliance, and build capability across complex and evolving areas—including climate-related financial reporting and asset management

About the Role

As Senior Manager, Financial Assurance and Compliance, you will lead the delivery of financial governance frameworks that support strong decision-making and accountability across the department.

You will play a key role in shaping financial policy, strengthening internal controls, and driving compliance with Treasury requirements. You will also lead the department’s strategic approach to climate-related financial disclosures and oversee asset management policy frameworks.

This is a strategic, hands-on role where you will:

  • Drive financial policy and compliance frameworks across the portfolio
  • Lead internal controls and assurance processes
  • Deliver climate-related financial disclosures and related activities / outcomes
  • Oversee asset management policy and alignment with planning
  • Partner with senior stakeholders, including Treasury
  • Lead and develop a small, high-performing team

 

You are an experienced senior finance professional with a strong track record in governance, controls, and compliance, combined with the ability to lead and influence in complex environments.

You will bring:

  • Extensive experience in financial governance, controls, policy, and compliance
  • Strong knowledge of public sector financial frameworks and Treasury requirements
  • Expertise or exposure to climate reporting, asset management, or enterprise risk (highly regarded)
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguity and drive outcomes
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Be able to adapt quickly to evolving climate reporting requirements and stay abreast of latest updates in this space

You are a confident, collaborative leader who builds capability within teams and delivers practical, high-quality outcomes while balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant experience at a senior level in developing corporate governance and controls, climate reporting and disclosures, asset management and enterprise risk management policies and practices
