dcbel Inc. (www.dcbel.energy) designs and sells residential products to make clean, efficient, and sustainable energy accessible to all — because everyone in the world deserves energy without compromise.

dcbel is at the leading edge of the residential energy revolution. Its products enable decentralized energy consumption and production through its vertically integrated suite of energy hardware and software products, and their supporting infrastructure.

Our flagship product, dcbel Ara, is a Home Energy Station that gives everyone ownership over their energy supply by using solar power to charge their EV and power their home, unlocking their EV’s battery for blackout protection, backup power (V2H) and grid services (V2G), and optimizing the energy flow between their solar panels, EVs, stationary battery and the grid.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Lead Electronics Engineer, your role will be to define and develop the overall test station architecture, ensuring consistency, modularity, and reusability across all test stations.

Main Responsibilities

  • Define and design the system architecture for modular, scalable, and reusable test platforms, encompassing hardware, software, and mechanical subsystems.
  • Translate stakeholder and product requirements into system-level architecture, specifications, and design documentation, ensuring alignment across product development, NPI, and manufacturing teams.
  • Establish test strategies, coverage requirements, standards, methods, and tools to support product development and manufacturing operations.
  • Design test systems that are flexible, scalable, and adaptable to product changes and production growth, minimizing the need for major redesigns or upgrades.
  • Define and standardize interfaces between test fixtures, instrumentation, and software to maximize system reusability and long-term maintainability.
  • Act as the technical authority for system-level decisions, performing trade-off analysis across cost, performance, complexity, and reliability to drive optimal solutions.
  • Lead design reviews and ensure system compliance with safety, reliability, and industry/regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure compatibility between test systems and evolving products throughout all project stages.
  • Select and implement appropriate technologies, tools, and equipment to deliver cost-effective and high-performance testing solutions.
  • Oversee project execution by communicating assignments, coordinating stakeholders, and monitoring progress across development phases.
  • Conduct system validation activities, including performance testing, analysis, and verification against design and functional specifications.
  • Ensure test systems incorporate advanced data acquisition and analytics capabilities for real-time monitoring, quality control, and rapid feedback on production issues.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and suppliers to source or customize test solutions as required.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, contributing technical expertise to support new opportunities and project acquisition.
  • Develop and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation for system architecture, hardware, software, and operational processes.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years in test system architecture or automated test equipment (ATE) design.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Experience with modular platform design for manufacturing test environments.

Bonus Skills

  • Bilingual English and French written and spoken.

Profile

  • Strong knowledge of in-circuit test (ICT), functional test, and boundary scan methodologies.
  • Expertise in system-level design integrating hardware, software, and mechanical disciplines.
  • Familiarity with safety and reliability standards.
  • Proficient with requirements management tools.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication.
  • Strategic thinker with hands-on technical depth.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, result oriented and strong EQ.
  • Autonomous, good teammate with strong problem-solving skills.

What's in it for you

  • Be part of a company that is backed by numerous globally respected investors and has world-changing patents in an industry changing for the first time in history.
  • Grow your professional experience amongst blue chip partners and a close-knit team of committed and experienced energy experts who deeply care about the work they do.
  • Full benefits package including Health insurance, Health virtual care, employee stock options plan (ESOP) and flexible hours. Parking available or with our employer commute program a short walking distance from Metro Namur.
