Are you a highly organised and proactive customer service professional with experience working shifts in hospitality, education, or administration? Do you excel at delivering exceptional service while managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment? Are you seeking a dynamic, student-facing role where every day brings something new?
As a Reception Officer, you will provide casual, ad hoc coverage to support the team during periods of staff absence, including sick leave, at our Warrnambool campus. Shifts will be offered as needed between 7:00am and 7:00pm, 7 days a week.
In this role, you will provide front-line reception, administrative support, and assistance to residents within Deakin Residential Services. You will deliver high-quality customer service to current and prospective residents, their families, University staff, and external contractors. Acting as a key point of contact, you will respond to enquiries, support community engagement within the residence, and connect residents with appropriate services when required.
To be successful, you'll have:
- Proven successful ability to deliver high-quality customer service with experience in shift work.
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently and effectively within a team environment.
- High verbal and written communication skills, including need for confidentiality.
- High interpersonal skills including the ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds, and particularly young people.
- High level computer literacy with knowledge of the Microsoft suite and ability to learn new packages.
- This role requires the incumbent to apply for and maintain a Working with Children Check.
Responsibilities

- →Supporting general reception and administrative functions, including maintaining and updating the resident housing management system.
- →Acting as the first point of contact for student enquiries, providing professional assistance or directing individuals to the appropriate staff member or information source.
- →Assisting with the coordination and reporting of maintenance issues as required.
- →Responding appropriately to emergency situations, which may include undertaking duties as a Chief Fire Warden or First Aid Officer.
- →Undertaking additional duties as required, consistent with the scope and classification of the role.
