Perform electrical maintenance tasks on plant utility and process infrastructure. Install and repair electrical systems, apparatus, electrical components, and electronic components of machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints and other specifications. Work with a limited degree of supervision, with oversight focused on complex and/or new assignments. Act as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Program, troubleshoot, and operate programmable controllers, distributive control systems, and interlocking systems
- →Install equipment for new electrical services (120v, 240v, and 480v three phase), including wiring, conduit, panels, breakers, contactors, relays, times and controls
- →Perform work on site automation system to the component level including components that require 0–10-volt signal or 4-20 milliamp signal repair
- →Diagnose, troubleshoot, test, install, and repair electrical parts, equipment and systems; install or replace circuit breakers, fuses, and variable speed
- →Work on electrical equipment including but not limited to frequency drives (VFDs), contactors, overload devices, fixtures, switches, receptacles, and wiring
- →Safely work with multi-phase, high voltage and low voltage electrical systems
- →Troubleshoot and resolve control networks, instrumentation, PLC devices (Programmable Logic Control), HMI (Human Machine Interface), VFD, servo, and control problems
- →Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
- →Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, distribution systems, motor control centers, and motors
- →Perform and assist in all operations maintenance activities on production, processing, and packaging equipment as well as utility related equipment or systems, following all safety procedures
- →Assist operators with training or troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime
- →Maintain communication with other departments, management, and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production
- →Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, identify opportunities to improve processes
- →Anticipate parts requirements for the tasks, follow proper purchasing procedures, and acquire parts ahead of anticipated task performance
- →Perform and assist in all operations maintenance activities, in accordance with national, state and local electrical codes
- →Use a computerized maintenance management system (e.g., MVP) to record and access maintenance related information
- →Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues
- →Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from trade school or technical school in related discipline preferred
- 4 to 6 years of electrical maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, and automation system maintenance experience
- Certification and/or License – Electrician journeyman license or other location specific electrician license; master electrician preferred
- Thorough knowledge of electrical codes, practices, techniques, tools, and equipment
- Knowledge and application of national, state, local building codes, OSHA, and standard industry safety rules/regulations pertaining to electrical work
- Able to use standard hand and power tools and equipment used in electrical maintenance activities
- Able to use to use ladders and scaffolding in a safe, efficient manner
- Able to work from sketches, drawings, and blueprints
- Able to inspect equipment, recognize potential problems, and take appropriate corrective action to prevent component failures or equipment down time
- Able to perform electrical activities/repairs independently and assist on more complicated repairs
- Able to complete minor to mid-sized projects from planning to installation
- Able to present options and ideas to current processes or procedures
- Able to work effectively in a team environment
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Basic computer skills
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
