Job Duties
Catawba Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced accounting professional to serve as a key member of the hospital’s financial operations team. This position has broad responsibility for cost accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, fixed asset management, charge card administration, and other critical accounting functions that support the hospital’s day-to-day operations. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of the hospital’s financial activities.
Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing cost allocation data; maintaining the hospital’s cost ledger; preparing and reviewing annual Medicare/Medicaid cost reports; and ensuring cost accounting practices remain consistent with CMS, federal, and Commonwealth requirements. The position also manages the hospital’s Bank of America charge card program, including cardholder access, monthly reconciliation and transaction reviews, annual training and compliance requirements, and monitoring of cardholder activity and spending limits. Additional responsibilities include maintaining ARMICS internal control procedures and completing annual testing, supporting financial audits, managing the hospital’s fixed asset inventory and related reconciliations, overseeing vehicle insurance and registration records, performing month-end account analysis and bank reconciliations, reviewing requisitions for budget and accounting accuracy, and providing support for payroll and other departmental accounting functions.
This position requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, organization, and the ability to manage multiple financial processes and deadlines. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute directly to the hospital’s financial accountability, regulatory compliance, and effective use of public resources while working as part of a collaborative administrative team.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge - Considerable knowledge of accounting principles and practices, computerized accounting systems and personal computers.
Skills - Operation of computer terminal, calculator, personal computer and accounting spreadsheet such as Excel.
Ability - Demonstrated ability to perform successfully in automated accounting system environment; interpret and/or develop policies and procedures; work with others; effectively handle workflow
Additional Considerations
Previous experience relative to work tasks and duties, preferably in a Commonwealth institution.
