  • Responsible for managing all activities performed by EH&S staff at assigned facilities. 
  • Assists in the development and management of EH&S department goals and budgets. 
  • Assists in the development and implementation of corporate EH&S policies and programs, ensuring compliance with local, state, federal, and international rules and regulations. 
  • Champions, manages and implements corporate EH&S and sustainability initiatives at a Regional level, ensuring understanding and partnership from direct stakeholders. 
  • Maintain communication with key stakeholders, liaise with regulatory authorities, monitor EH&S metrics and performance, while providing support and advice to operational teams at all business levels. 
  • Support Emergency Response, Business Continuity and Sustainability initiatives and processes.  Plans, coordinates and oversees safety & evacuation drills.  Provides and coordinates emergency response both during and after business hours.  Follows up to ensure deficiencies are corrected timely. 
  • Oversees the maintenance of EH&S files, manifests, and records. Compiles case studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use as reference material by company personnel. 
  • Administration and management of the company’s workers’ compensation program for US operations as related to their assigned facilities 
  • Advises HR on employee relations issues concerning accommodation for disabilities and fitness for duty. 
  • Plans and executes EH&S compliance audits to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure ongoing compliance with governing regulations; recommends, coordinates, and tracks implementation of corrective actions and preventive measures.   
  • Manages the investigations of unsafe conditions, industrial incidents and accidents, gathering and analysis of accident data, development and distribution of accident investigation reports, and preparation and submission of reports and associated data required by regulatory agencies; develops proactive solutions and tracks implementation of corrective actions 
  • Manages the Region’s ergonomic program, conducting and overseeing ergonomic evaluations and follow-up actions. 
  • Provides support and guidance to departments and regional sites on complex EH&S related issues. 
  • Maintains liaison with various government agencies and keeps abreast of new developments and regulations 
  • Participates as an active member of the Global EH&S Leadership Team (EHS LT) 
  • Supports other Supply Chain operations with EH&S program implementation and compliance as requested/directed 
  • Lead, mentor, and supervisethe local EH&S team, providing clear direction, support, and professional development opportunities. 
  • Foster a culture of safety and environmental stewardshipacross all levels of the organization. 
  • Set performance goalsfor EH&S staff, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide constructive feedback. 
  • Develop and deliver training programsto ensure staff understand and comply with EH&S policies, procedures, and regulations. 
  • Collaborate continuously with department heads and senior managementto integrate EH&S initiatives into business operations and strategic planning. 
  • Champion continuous improvementby identifying opportunities for process enhancements and encouraging innovative solutions. 
  • Ensure effective and proactive communicationof EH&S objectives, initiatives, and changes throughout the organization. 
  • Investigate - and/or evaluate investigations by team members - regarding incidents and near-misses, leading root cause analyses and ensuring corrective actions are implemented. 
  • Model exemplary leadershipby demonstrating integrity, accountability, and a commitment to the organization’s EH&S goals.

  •  Stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. 
  •  Lifting/pushing/pulling and carrying products weighing up to 45 pounds. 
  •  Potential exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration and/or moderate noise levels. 
  •  Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals or other materials. 
  •  Safety Shoes compliant with site specific policies/procedures must be worn in designated areas 
  •  Potential exposure to blood.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required.  
  • 8-10 years of related experience preferred, preferably in a corporate environment. 
  • 3+ years of people management experience
  • Experience working in ISO-certified businesses (i.e., ISO 45001 and ISO 14001). 
  • Current professional certification from recognized EHS entities preferred (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM, etc.).

  • The annualized base salary range for this role is $99,700.00 - $166,200.00 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs and market demand.
