We are seeking an experienced Senior Counsel to join DoorDash’s legal team in Australia. This role will serve as a key legal partner to the business, providing strategic, pragmatic advice across a wide range of legal and regulatory matters. As a generalist, you will support teams spanning strategy & operations, product, partnerships, and policy, helping to enable growth while managing risk in a dynamic and fast-evolving environment. You will report to the Senior Director of Litigation on our Global Legal team.

This is a hybrid role based in Melbourne or Sydney, with three days per week in office and two days remote.

  • Operate as a generalist legal advisor across a broad range of matters, including consumer law, regulatory compliance, commercial issues, litigation/investigations, and employment and contractor models
  • Partner closely with leaders and subject matter experts across the global Legal team and collaborate cross-functionally with teams including operations, strategy, product, partnerships, and policy
  • Provide pragmatic, business-oriented guidance on complex and evolving legal and regulatory issues impacting technology platforms and marketplace businesses across Australia and New Zealand

  • Build trusted relationships across the business while developing scalable legal processes and frameworks, using strong judgment, integrity, and a solutions-oriented mindset to balance legal risk with business priorities
  • Qualified to practice law in Australia with at least 8+ years PQE, including experience advising on commercial, consumer, regulatory, and/or litigation matters
  • Prior in-house experience at a technology or other fast-paced international company preferred
  • Strong understanding of Australian legal and regulatory frameworks relevant to technology and marketplace businesses, including consumer, privacy, competition, and commercial law, with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, exercise strong judgment, and effectively balance legal risk with business objectives
  • Experience managing a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment, including prioritising competing demands
