The Public Area Supervisor plays a key leadership role in maintaining cleanliness, presentation, and overall guest experience across all public spaces at Sand Valley. This position is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the Public Area team, ensuring that all shared spaces are consistently maintained to the resort’s high standards.
Reporting to the Housekeeping Manager, the Public Area Supervisor provides hands-on leadership, training, scheduling, and quality oversight for Public Area Attendants. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining the beauty and functionality of all public spaces throughout the property.
- Supervise and lead the daily operations of the Public Area team, ensuring all assigned areas are cleaned, maintained, and presented to Sand Valley standards.
- Plan, organize, and assign daily and weekly workloads for Public Area Attendants based on occupancy levels, events, and operational needs.
- Conduct routine inspections of all public spaces including lobbies, restrooms, corridors, clubhouse areas, meeting spaces, and outdoor gathering areas.
- Train, coach, and develop Public Area Attendants on cleaning standards, safety procedures, efficiency, and guest service expectations.
- Maintain accountability for quality standards by identifying deficiencies and implementing corrective action or retraining when necessary.
- Collaborate closely with the Housekeeping Manager to support departmental goals, staffing plans, and operational initiatives.
- Partner with Maintenance, Grounds, and other departments to address upkeep needs, repairs, and special projects.
- Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and equipment; ensure proper ordering, storage, and usage controls.
- Assist in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and performance management of Public Area team members.
- Ensure all team members follow safety standards, chemical handling protocols, and company policies.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests, service recovery situations, and cleanliness concerns.
- Maintain accurate documentation including inspection logs, productivity tracking, supply usage, and staffing records.
- Support departmental scheduling, timecard accuracy, and labor efficiency initiatives.
- Assist with cleaning responsibilities and operational coverage during peak periods, special events, or staffing shortages.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the Housekeeping Department.
- Previous supervisory experience in housekeeping, facilities, or hospitality operations preferred.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and hold team members accountable.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining luxury-level cleanliness standards.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing operational demands.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-departmentally.
- Professional demeanor with a service-focused mindset.
- Experience with scheduling, inspections, and operational reporting preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Successful completion of background check and drug screen required.
- Flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and varied operational hours.
- Work occurs both indoors and outdoors with frequent movement across the resort property.
- Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals, weather conditions, and operational equipment.
- Position requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, and physical activity for extended periods.
- Adherence to all safety policies and procedures is required.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, push, pull, and lift for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 75 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to visually inspect public areas and maintain strong attention to detail.
- Ability to operate housekeeping equipment and departmental vehicles as needed.
- Ability to communicate effectively using verbal instructions and communication devices.
