Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the design, development, evaluation, and implementation of NGS assays, including amplicon-based sequencing and whole genome sequencing, for the internal drug discovery pipeline.
  • Conducts independent laboratory research to develop and apply advanced NGS techniques and methodologies.
  • Engages in scientific literature analysis to identify methodological gaps, designing protocols and contributing to experimental plans for developing new sequencing strategies to meet business needs.
  • Collaborates with the internal data analysis team to create methods for analyzing NGS data, incorporating cutting-edge NGS technologies.
  • Manages long-read and single-molecule sequencing, including library preparation, instrument operation, and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoots and evaluates prepared libraries, addresses data quality issues, and resolves sequencing instrument concerns.
  • Extracts high molecular weight DNA and high-quality RNA from a variety of biological samples.
  • Coordinates across teams to ensure timely and efficient delivery of high-quality results.
  • Functions effectively both independently and as part of a team to resolve protocol challenges and deliver results.
  • Follows and reviews standard operating procedures to ensure reproducibility.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to troubleshoot equipment and optimize processes.
  • Prepares and presents experimental data to cross-functional teams.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Genetics, or a related field with 5+ years of research experience in a relevant laboratory setting, or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in molecular biology techniques, including DNA construct design, PCR, qPCR, RT-PCR, molecular cloning, plasmid extraction, and DNA sequencing.
  • Experience with Illumina NGS technology.
  • Experience with PacBio technology is a plus.
  • Knowledge of various DNA cloning methods, such as Gibson and Golden Gate assembly techniques, along with bacterial strain engineering, is an advantage.
