Job Title:  Lead Claims
Job Location (Short):  Clearwater, MN
Workplace Type:  Office

Under the direction of the Director of Safety and Risk, this position is responsible for the administration of all Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, Auto Liability, and Property Damage claims as well as the general support of the Safety department. This positions primary function is to facility end-to-end claims processing, documentation and adjudication.

Responsibilities

  • Supports, investigates, and documents all aspects of WC, GL, AL and Property claims;
  • Reviews and evaluates damage claims and makes recommendations for resolution;
  • Facilities and maintains extensive contact with internal and external stakeholders in the claims process;
  • Maintains a high level of communication internally regarding claims status updates as well as externally with claimants, insurers, and insurance brokers;
  • Actively participates in Company and Corporate claim reviews;
  • Conducts claims audits to find trends to monitor for safety compliance concerns and makes recommendations to Safety Director for training opportunities; 
  • Supervises accurate classifications and entry of new claim information, claim payments, and reserves on computer system, inputting concise yet sufficient file documentation for accurate and appropriate management;
  • Researches claims and records correspondence and other pertinent back-up documentation; 
  • Conducts training with appropriate employees on the claims process;
  • Analyzes claims to determine the extent of Company liability; 
  • Maintains claim files such as records of settled claims and an inventory of claims requiring detailed analysis, including regular follow up in a timely and professional manner;
  • Collects Liability Releases in all settlements;
  • Files insurance claims as required; 
  • In conjunction with Management and the Company HR department, hires and effectively leads department team members; prepares and executes employee-related documentation as needed;
  • Maintains a keen understanding of trends, developments, and best practices in the telecommunications industry, safety, and claims;
  • Acts as a liaison between Corporate and field offices in regards to claim processing and closure; 
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Associate’s degree in Business, Occupational Safety and Health, Education, or a field with transferrable skills, and 2-4 years of related work experience, or combination of education and experience required;
  • 2 or more years of  Supervisory experience preferred;
  • In depth knowledge of the telecommunications industry, insurance, or risk management;
  • Ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions, correspondence and memos;
  • Effective and respectful written and verbal communication with all applicable stakeholders, both internal and external, at all levels of the organization;
  • Ability to apply reasoning and understanding to solve practical problems; 
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize with a strong attention to detail;
  • Proficient use of computer hardware and software including but not limited to Internet software and databases. Familiarity with Googled-based applications is preferred;
  • Understanding and use of general arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, units of measure and weight using whole numbers, fractions and decimals;
  • Ability to work flexible hours including overtime and weekends as needed;
  • Self-motivated and driven with the ability to work independently on assigned tasks with minimum guidance;
  • Valid driver’s license with favorable driving record required.
