Associate Engineer
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Deliver well-defined tasks within the squad's backend services, with guidance and code review from senior engineers.
- →Automate processes: write and maintain scripts and services that eliminate repetitive manual work.
- →Pair and learn: shadow senior engineers on the more complex orchestration and architecture work; build your distributed-systems foundations.
- →Engineering hygiene: write tests and clear documentation for your work; respond to code-review feedback and improve from it.
- →Participate in team routines: stand-ups, Kanban flow (we optimise cycle time over story points), and retros.
- →Grow toward L2/L3: progressively take on larger, less-defined work as your depth increases.
- Foundational proficiency in Python (or a similar language) for scripting and building small services.
- Basic familiarity with cloud environments (AWS or GCP) and how code repositories (like Git) work.
- Degree in IT, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience — we hire for aptitude and trajectory, not years (0–2 years, an internship, or a strong bootcamp/CS background).
- Solid understanding of core programming, debugging, and testing principles, with eagerness to learn backend and distributed-systems concepts.
- A growth mindset: you actively seek feedback, pair to learn, and take ownership of well-defined tasks — while knowing exactly when to raise your hand and ask for help. Working English for collaborating across our global hubs.
- Based in (or relocating to) Málaga, and comfortable with 4 days/week on-site, being co-located with the team accelerates mentoring.
Nice to Have
~1 min read- Exposure to orchestration/event tooling (Temporal, Kafka), Terraform, or CI/CD concepts.
