The Client Executive (CE) partners with clients and Producers to develop and execute comprehensive employee benefits strategies. This role is responsible for managing a book of business, leading implementation efforts, and overseeing all aspects of ongoing client service.

The CE serves as a strategic advisor to clients while leading the service team to ensure high-quality delivery across plan design, financial analysis, compliance guidance, and program management. This role also plays a key part in driving client retention, identifying growth opportunities, and strengthening long-term relationships.


Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for clients
  • Provide guidance on:
    • Plan design and eligibility
    • Coverage and contractual issues
    • Compliance and government reporting requirements
  • Deliver ongoing insights related to:
    • Market trends
    • Legislative updates
    • Benefits strategy
  • Build strong client relationships and identify opportunities for growth and retention

  • Analyze client data including census, claims experience, and plan performance
  • Conduct market comparisons and evaluate renewal options
  • Develop and present strategic recommendations to client stakeholders
  • Negotiate premium rates, plan terms, and commissions on behalf of clients
  • Model plan alternatives and provide financial analysis aligned with client goals

  • Lead the marketing process and carrier/vendor negotiations
  • Obtain and evaluate carrier proposals and quotes
  • Develop proposals, presentations, and deliverables for clients
  • Partner with Producers on new business opportunities and client meetings

  • Oversee ongoing client service delivery and support
  • Manage employee communication strategies and open enrollment processes
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation in agency management systems
  • Delegate and monitor administrative work for accuracy and completion

  • Lead and support Client Managers, Account Managers, and administrative staff
  • Delegate work effectively and ensure quality across deliverables
  • Set priorities and manage workflows for both self and support team
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and performance oversight

  • Support Producers in new business development efforts
  • Participate in client meetings, presentations, and proposal development
  • Identify and pursue opportunities within existing book of business

  • Deep knowledge of employee benefits products and services
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, including underwriting and modeling
  • Working knowledge of compliance:
    • HIPAA, ERISA, ACA, COBRA
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience with agency management systems

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • 4+ years of experience in employee benefits:
    • Account Manager or Account Executive within a brokerage or consulting firm
    • Or comparable experience with a medical carrier
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Analyze data and financial information
    • Interpret benefits plans and policies
    • Present recommendations to clients
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

  • Active Life & Health insurance license required
  • Advanced designations preferred (CEBS, GBA, PHR, CLU)
  • Valid driver’s license

What We Offer

The national average salary for this role is $160,000.00 - $190,000.00 in base pay and exclusive of any bonuses or benefits. The base pay offered will be determined based on your experience, skills, training, certifications and education, while also considering internal equity and market data.
