Reporting to the Supervisor, End User Computing, the Desktop Support Technician is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of site support services, providing Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for computer hardware, software, and associated peripherals in a mining and industrial environment.

Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
Provide on-site and remote technical support for desktop computers, laptops, ruggedized devices, peripheral equipment, and software in accordance with corporate and site standards
Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain IT equipment in office, operational, and field environments, including workshops and control rooms
Support end users by resolving incidents and service requests, documenting all activity through the IT ticketing system
Collaborate with vendor support, help desk, network operations, and infrastructure teams to diagnose and resolve technical issues
Ensure desktop and endpoint systems integrate effectively with mine systems, including file and email servers, operational technology (OT) applications, conferencing platforms, and administrative systems
Coordinate with procurement and site stakeholders to source hardware and software, assessing operational requirements and defining technical specifications
Assist with maintaining LAN/WAN documentation and, where applicable, site telecommunications and structured cabling systems
Support and maintain local network policies, security controls, access management, and compliance documentation
Deliver end-user training on applications, printers, radios, mobile devices, and other site IT systems
Escalate complex or safety-critical issues to appropriate IT or OT support teams and coordinate external technical support when issues cannot be resolved on site
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Information Technology within a corporate or industrial technology environment, preferably supporting remote or site-based operations
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite®
Demonstrated ability to support, troubleshoot, and repair desktop and laptop hardware, including peripheral replacement, system upgrades, and maintenance of legacy systems commonly found in industrial environments
Extensive experience using incident management and ticketing systems to track, prioritize, and resolve technical issues such as Service Now
Solid understanding of computer hardware technologies, remote diagnostic and support tools, client/server networking, and mobile/smartphone platforms
Experience supporting internet and intranet services, including email systems, web-based applications, and modern web browsers
Familiarity with remote support tools such as Goverlan or equivalent remote administration software
Ability to work in a mining or heavy industrial environment, including adherence to strict health, safety, and site access requirements
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent, with the ability to travel between site locations as required
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
