The Structural Design Engineer at The Fischer Group develops efficient, value-focused engineering solutions that support Fischer Homes’ product offerings and construction operations. In this role, you will design basic structural components, evaluate field conditions, develop repair drawings, and help resolve construction challenges before they create schedule delays. You will work across architecture, construction, estimating, purchasing, permitting, warranty, GCL, Division Construction Teams, and Build-Right to support constructible, compliant, and consistent design practices. This is an opportunity to apply technical judgment, research, and accuracy to improve both new and existing home designs.

You Will Thrive in This Role If You…

  • Apply sound engineering judgment to develop practical, constructible, and value-focused solutions for new and existing home designs.
  • Investigate field conditions, identify the source of construction or engineering issues, and develop effective repair solutions.
  • Analyze technical information, the IRC, the IBC, and relevant residential construction standards with careful attention to accuracy.
  • Communicate clearly and collaborate with construction, design, MEP, and internal support teams to resolve shared challenges.
  • Work independently on defined technical problems while staying responsive to time-sensitive field needs and schedule impacts.
  • Use company-approved technologies, including AI tools where appropriate, with sound judgment, accuracy checks, and respect for confidential information and applicable policies.

These skills will be used to:

  • Design basic structural components that support efficient, constructible, and value-focused solutions for new and existing home designs.
  • Produce clear repair drawings that show building components and guide accurate field repairs, helping minimize construction schedule delays.
  • Perform site visits to evaluate existing conditions, identify construction and engineering issues, and develop effective repair solutions.
  • Collaborate directly with construction and internal teams to identify field challenges and drawing inconsistencies and support timely resolution.
  • Provide drafting and design support to the MEP Supervisor to maintain accurate and efficient MEP designs across Fischer Homes products.
  • Perform IRC and IBC code analysis and review homebuilding-related items to support compliant design and construction solutions.
  • Draft and edit the standard construction detail library and general notes in collaboration with Construction Services.
  • Apply company-approved technologies, including AI tools where appropriate, to improve productivity, streamline workflows, enhance decision-making, and support high-quality business outcomes while reviewing AI-assisted work for accuracy and protecting confidential information.
