This role supports the end-to-end custom rug production process — from initial account manager request through to completed order. The Associate Custom Production Designer works closely with account managers, in-house artists, and overseas manufacturing partners to help ensure every custom project is executed accurately, on time, and to the highest quality standard.
- Create scaled digital artwork renderings in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for custom rug requests, including full-rug layouts, strike-off renderings, and room placements when necessary
- Translate client specifications — colorways, pattern modifications, size changes, and construction details — into production-ready artwork files
- Support revision cycles through to client sign-off, maintaining an organized archive of all artwork versions
- Support account managers with information on custom feasibility, including construction options, fiber selection, sizing, and lead times
- Assist with colorway development and material selection based on project requirements
- Review client feedback on samples and strike-offs and support the approvals process through to production release
- Assist in placing and processing custom orders with overseas mills, ensuring all specifications are accurately documented
- Track orders through production milestones and flag any delays or discrepancies to senior team members
- Coordinate sample and strike-off shipments between suppliers, showrooms, and workrooms
- Communicate technical specifications and artwork files clearly and accurately to mill teams
- Support positive supplier relationships to help ensure efficient production, quality consistency, and timely delivery
- Help troubleshoot production and quality issues, escalating to senior team members where necessary
- Some experience or strong interest in custom rug or textile production, with familiarity with construction types including but not limited to hand-knotted, hand-tufted, flatweave
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or equivalent artwork software
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent requests
- Clear, professional communicator — comfortable working with account managers and overseas suppliers
- Detail-oriented with a proactive, solutions-focused approach
- A genuine appreciation for design quality and craftsmanship
