At GEMTEC, we offer something different. We’re an employee-owned, 400-person multidisciplinary consulting firm—not too big, not too small. We’re large enough to compete head-to-head with publicly traded engineering giants, but still small enough to maintain the culture and flexibility of a close-knit team.

Our size and hands-on management style let us move quickly, embrace new opportunities, and empower our people to shape their own careers—without getting lost in corporate bureaucracy.

You’re a strong fit if you:

  • Have solid technical experience in contaminated sites management for government and private sector clients.
  • Enjoy solving complex environmental challenges and working within a risk-based regulatory framework.
  • Take pride in delivering high-quality technical reports and actionable solutions for clients.
  • Are naturally collaborative and enjoy mentoring and coaching junior professionals.

A typical day on the job might look like:

  • Leading the planning and execution of contaminated sites investigations and remediation projects.
  • Providing technical guidance and coaching to junior environmental engineers, geoscientists, and technologists.
  • Designing and implementing field programs, reviewing sampling plans, and interpreting data.
  • Managing project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staff resources to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Reviewing and approving technical deliverables, including phased environmental site assessments (ESAs), remedial options analyses, remediation reports, and other regulatory reports.
  • Interpreting federal and provincial environmental regulations and guiding clients toward compliant solutions.
  • Coordinating with regulatory agencies and clients to support successful project outcomes.
  • Supporting business development through proposal preparation, responses to requests for proposals, and client relationship management.
  • Collaborating with GEMTEC’s multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated environmental solutions.
  • Maintaining a safe and compliant working environment in all project activities.

The good stuff you get:

  • Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
  • Complete health & dental coverage including vision, paramedical services, Teladoc and Employee & Family Assistance Program when you need it
  • Retirement planning made easier with a 5% employer match on your contributions
  • Paid time off (vacation and sick days) and an office year-end closure (paid time off between Christmas and the New Year)

Your background and what you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or geoscience from an accredited institution.
  • Registered Professional (P.Eng. or P.Geo.) in Canada with experience in contaminates sites work.

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to mentor and coach junior professionals.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly in English.
  • Experience with federal government clients is an asset.
  • Technical experience in hydrogeology and/or environmental risk assessment is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Word and Excel.
