Who are we looking for?

GHD is seeking an experienced Transportation Roadway Engineer / Project Delivery Lead to build and lead our growing roadway practice in Georgia. The ideal candidate has 5 to 10 years of transportation engineering experience, including leadership on GDOT or municipal projects, and a current Georgia Professional Engineer license with GDOT PDP, LAP, and GSWCC Level II certifications. Required expertise includes Bentley OpenRoads Designer, GDOT standards and workflows, roadway and intersection design—including roundabouts—and applicable AASHTO, FHWA, MUTCD, PROWAG/ADA, and local agency requirements.

This leader will guide roadway projects from scoping and concept development through final design, letting, and construction support; direct multidisciplinary teams; and manage scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, resources, subconsultants, and agency coordination. The role also includes mentoring staff, performing technical reviews, maintaining strong client relationships, presenting to clients and stakeholders, and supporting business development through opportunity identification, capture strategy, proposals, interviews, and delivery of repeat work.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Client & Customer Management (External): Maintain strong client relationships by providing trusted advice and consistently delivering high-quality work that meets client needs
  • Community of Practice Management: Be an active member of a community of practice by collaborating with peers, sharing knowledge and best practices, and contributing expertise to strengthen the broader professional community and support ongoing professional development

  • Contract Management: Deliver required outcomes by managing day-to-day relationships with contract service providers while working within an established contract management plan.
  • Engineering Solutions Design: Develop and validate engineering solutions, including PS&E packages, alternative analyses, and conceptual designs, in accordance with GDOT standards, applicable regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

  • Engineering Standards Specification: Contribute to the analysis of information, the drafting of engineering standards and specifications, and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards within own engineering discipline to inform engineering work in the organization and/or of its suppliers, contractors, and consultants.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace. Identify patterns of risky behavior within the team and take appropriate action to resolve them, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
  • Improvement/Innovation: Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them.
  • Personal Capability Building: Develop and strengthen professional capabilities through internal and external training, maintain relevant professional accreditations, and stay abreast of emerging industry trends, technologies, standards, and best practices.

  • Project Management: Deliver projects while working within an established program management plan.
  • Request for Bid Solicitation/Proposal/Tender Response: Gather information and resources, draft and complete proposals, and fulfill all process requirements (in terms of deadlines, documentation, etc.) in response to bid solicitations, request for proposal, and request for tender to create the best chance of being awarded the contract.
