Responsibilities

As a Generator Commissioning Lead at Giga, you are the technical authority on the pad, providing on-site oversight of the generator commissioning process from delivery through turnover. You'll own the mechanical, electrical, and controls scope of commissioning, working shoulder to shoulder with multi-disciplinary teams and vendors, coordinating the many parties that touch a site, keeping parts and fuel flowing, and directing generator testing and troubleshooting as issues surface. This isn't a role where you do every task yourself; it's one where you make sure the right work happens in the right sequence, to Giga's standards, so sites reach turnover on schedule. In a company where uptime is everything, you set the bar for how our generation assets get commissioned and proven out.

  • Own the generator commissioning process across mechanical, electrical, and controls scope, from equipment delivery through turnover to operations.
  • Serve as the generator subject matter expert and primary technical interface with vendors, including reviewing their work, holding them to Giga's standards, and resolving technical issues in the field.
  • Coordinate across Project Managers, Engineering, generator vendors, and the various contractors on site to keep work sequenced and moving.
  • Manage parts coordination and procurement to prevent commissioning delays.
  • Own fuel ordering and coordination to support testing and startup activities.
  • Manage generator testing across mechanical, electrical, and controls scope. Lead troubleshooting when equipment doesn't perform as expected.
  • Serve as the go-to contact on site for installation and testing problems, working with cross-functional groups to determine and implement solutions.
  • Manage, organize, and deliver commissioning documentation, including commissioning records, punch lists, and turnover packages.
  • Implement and uphold a high standard for site safety, ensuring safety requirements are met throughout commissioning.
  • Communicate proactively with multiple teams and leadership regarding generator system status and risk items.

This is a remote role with on-site commissioning work. Between commissioning campaigns, you'll work remotely, handling planning, documentation, vendor coordination, and prep for the next site from wherever you're based. When a site is ready to commission, you'll travel to that data center facility, embed with the team, and own the work through turnover before returning to a remote stretch ahead of the next one.
