About the Role
~1 min readBuild the lab infrastructure that helps Graphcore engineers bring new silicon and systems to life.
As Engineering Lab Infrastructure Lead, you will lead the support function behind our Engineering Labs in Bristol. These labs are where new silicon, systems and platforms are tested, validated and scaled.
You will keep critical lab environments reliable, scalable and ready for engineering work. Your impact will be felt in the speed and quality of product development.
At first, this will be a hands-on role across Linux systems, lab infrastructure, automation and technical escalation. As the function grows, you will help build the team, standards and service model behind it.
This is a rare chance to shape how a complex engineering organisation builds, tests and scales technology.
You will work closely with silicon, hardware, systems and software engineering teams. Work happens through direct problem solving, clear ownership and practical decisions made close to the lab.
You will be trusted to act quickly, improve what is not working and set the standard for others. The role needs someone who can speak up, take responsibility and build credibility through delivery.
As the function grows, you will mentor and lead Lab Infrastructure Engineers. You will shape how the team supports Graphcore’s engineering work long term.
- Strong Linux systems administration experience across Debian and/or Red Hat environments.
- Experience supporting engineering, research, laboratory, HPC or data-centre environments.
- Solid networking knowledge across routing, VLANs, VPNs and complex connectivity troubleshooting.
- Experience managing servers, racks, BMCs, firmware and out-of-band management.
- Hands-on use of configuration management and automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet or similar.
- Clear communication, structured troubleshooting and the confidence to lead technical escalation.
While we have outlined a set of requirements, we value transferable skills and diverse experiences. We also welcome engineers returning to the profession after a career break, including through returnship routes.
