- Preventative maintenance and repair of bulk trailers to meet the standards of DOT compliance.
- Daily auditing of trailers using the ‘Trailer Evaluation” process form to ensure compliance and effectiveness of maintenance processes.
- Adjust, repair, replace brake components as needed to maintain a safe and roadworthy trailer that complies with DOT regulations.
- Maintain and repair other trailer systems such as the suspension, frame elements, hopper elements, motor elements, hydraulic components, air system components, and electrical.
- Champion of the Trailer Management Process.
- Ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Local ordinances affecting this position.
- Ensure compliance with all Company policies and programs.
- Maintain valid licenses, certifications and/or permits required to perform responsibilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma
- DOT brake certification training
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- 2+ years of experience in trailer repair and maintenance
- Welding skill a plus.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Communicating with internal and external customers – must be able to talk, hear, see, and comprehend.
- Mobility of arms – Must be able to reach and use arms to manipulate small objects.
- Mobility inside the plant – Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, reach, bend, and lift up to 100 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Work is routinely performed in a general warehouse environment on a concrete surface, with frequent exposure to both internal and external environment.
- Frequent exposure to severe weather conditions, both heat and cold.
- Frequent exposure to dust, and noise levels that exceed a normal threshold.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
- Must wear steel-toed boots.
- Recommended: Safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, back brace, and safety attire as noted by guides provided in specific areas. These will be provided by Harrell’s upon request.
- Personal Protective Equipment must be worn in accordance with SDS recommendations.
