As Temp Deputy Culture Director at Harper’s Bazaar, you’ll lead timely, engaging, and audience-focused culture coverage, ensuring our journalism resonates with readers while capturing the moments everyone is talking about.

Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Manage the daily culture editorial calendar, ensuring a consistent pipeline of timely, relevant, and high-quality content.
- →Assign, edit, and publish stories covering entertainment, celebrity news, film, television, music, books, social trends, and cultural conversations.
- →Lead tentpole coverage around major cultural moments, premieres, awards shows, and industry events.
- →Develop and mentor writers, freelancers, and contributors, helping to elevate reporting, storytelling, and editorial quality.
- →Monitor breaking news, emerging trends, and social conversations to identify opportunities for audience-focused coverage.
- →Collaborate with SEO, social, audience development, and visual teams to maximize content reach and performance.
- →Uphold editorial standards for accuracy, inclusivity, voice, and brand integrity across all published content.
- →Analyze content performance and audience insights to inform coverage strategies and support broader editorial initiatives.
Requirements
~1 min read- 5+ years of editorial experience covering culture, entertainment, lifestyle, digital media, or related content areas.
- Strong editing, headline-writing, and story-development skills with a demonstrated ability to shape compelling content.
- Experience managing writers, freelancers, and contributors in a fast-paced editorial environment.
- Deep knowledge of entertainment, celebrity, and cultural trends, with strong editorial judgment.
- Familiarity with analytics platforms, SEO best practices, and audience growth strategies.
- Ability to balance breaking news coverage, service journalism, and longer-form feature content.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across editorial and cross-functional teams.
- This role is based in New York City and requires in-office attendance four days per week.
The hourly rate for this role is $39.00/hour based on a 40-hour work week. This position is not eligible for bonus or commission compensation. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
