Senior Python Engineer

Web Design Sun is a software development company founded in 2012. We have been fully remote since day one, building international products in Web & Cloud Applications, SaaS, CRM/ERP, and E-commerce domains. We collaborate with clients from the US and Europe and consistently rank highly on Clutch, GoodFirms, and Upwork.

We are looking for a Senior Python Backend Developer with strong engineering fundamentals and deep expertise in designing scalable backend systems. This role is focused on building reliable and maintainable applications, making architectural decisions, and taking ownership of backend development across products at different maturity stages.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of commercial experience with Python
• Deep understanding of System Design and high-load distributed systems
• Solid understanding of architectural trade-offs in real-world applications
• Good knowledge of algorithms and data structures, including complexity analysis
• Hands-on experience with Django and Django REST Framework
• Hands-on experience with FastAPI and SQLAlchemy
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Amazon RDS, Redis, and ElastiCache
• Experience working with both monolithic and microservice architectures
• Strong ownership, responsibility, and proactive mindset
• Ability to work effectively across multiple products and services
• English – B2+
• Ukrainian or Russian – C1+/Native
• Residence outside Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine

Nice to have:

• Experience with cloud environments and distributed systems
• Previous mentoring or technical leadership experience
• Continuous learning mindset and participation in courses or self-development initiatives
• Experience working closely with ML and DevOps teams

Responsibilities:

• Design scalable, high-load, and distributed systems
• Develop and maintain both monolithic and microservice-based architectures
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, DevOps engineers, ML engineers, and QA specialists
• Make and justify architectural decisions and technical trade-offs
• Ensure technical quality, maintainability, and reliability of backend systems
• Take ownership of backend development across projects at different maturity stages
• Perform code reviews and support less experienced developers through mentoring and knowledge sharing
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices and system architecture
