The International Organization for Migration (IOM) implements the Migration and Development in North Africa (NAMAD) project, through the initiative to strengthen interventions aimed at improving livelihoods in shelters and enhancing pre-departure processes for migrants returning to Guinea, the project is funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and implemented by IOM in Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt and Guinea as a country of return and Origin. 

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission, the Programme Manager, and direct supervision of the Counter-Trafficking and Protection Officer, the Project Assistant will help ensure the successful implementation of activities supporting the sustainable reintegration of migrants and vulnerable returnees. The NAMAD Phase III project is designed to enhance protection-sensitive return and reintegration procedures, support socio-economic reintegration, and strengthen cooperation with national and local stakeholders in Guinea.

The incumbent selected will provide support for the execution of project activities in Guinea, oversee and monitor the work with partners and external service providers as needed, and serve as a liaison with government partners and civil society at the local and community levels.

  1. Provide administrative and logistical support for the implementation of reintegration project activities. 

  2. Assist in beneficiary registration, documentation, filing and data entry in line with IOM procedures. 

  3. Support the organization of project activities including workshops, trainings, sensitization sessions and meetings. 

  4. Assist with procurement, logistics and administrative processes related to project activities, in coordination with relevant units. 

  5. Support data collection, consolidation and basic analysis for monitoring and reporting purposes. 

  6. Maintain proper physical and electronic filing and archiving project documentation. 

  7. Support the preparation of internal updates, activity reports and donor reporting input. 

  8. Assist senior project staff during field missions, monitoring visits and verification exercises. 

  9. Liaise with other relevant units as necessary.

  10. Ensure timely communication and information sharing within the project team. 

  11. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Requirements

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

    • Strong organizational and coordination skills.

    • Proven ability to monitor quality, performance and compliance with procedures.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including coaching and feedback.

    • Proficient computer skills, including Word and Excel.

    All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).

    For all applicants, fluency in French, and English is required (oral and written) and National 

    Language is an advantage). For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).

    Knowledge of English and one of Guinea's local languages would be an asset.

    Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
