We are looking for a Senior Quantum Sales Executive will be part of our US Go-To-Market team whose mission is to bring IonQ’s offering—including Quantum Hardware (Systems and Networks), Software, Applications, and Access—to a curated set of clients across the Financial Services ecosystem (Tier 1 Banks, Capital Markets/Hedge Funds, and Insurance). This is an individual contributor role with potential to build a team down the road.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Strategic Partnerships: Develop and own executive-level relationships (e.g., Chief Risk Officers, Heads of Quantitative Strategy, BU/Function leads) at target accounts in partnership with your Field Engineer counterpart.
- →Pipeline Generation: Develop a pipeline of sales opportunities across IonQ’s full stack, including Quantum Computing for portfolio optimization, Quantum Networking for secure financial data transfer, and Quantum Sensing for high-precision timing in trading.
- →Strategic Qualification: Qualify and prioritize pipeline opportunities based on client impact potential, financial profitability, timing, and long-term strategic alignment with IonQ’s roadmap.
- →Full Lifecycle Ownership: Own all phases of the sales lifecycle—from relationship development and technical qualification to proposal/RFP response, complex negotiations, and deal closure.
- →Internal Collaboration: Ensure support of the broader IonQ organization to successfully pursue high-value opportunities throughout the sales cycle.
- →Retention & Expansion: Partner with Customer Success post-sale to ensure high satisfaction, driving renewals and identifying opportunities for incremental revenue
- Industry GTM Tenure: Minimum of 10 years of experience selling to the Financial Services Industry with quota-carrying responsibilities and a proven ability to close multi-million dollar platform or infrastructure deals.
- HPC/Analytics Infrastructure Sales: Experience selling high-performance computing (HPC), AI/ML infrastructure (hardware or software) to the industry.
- Industry Network: Existing relationships within Fortune 100 Financial Institutions (including Global Money Center Banks, Hedge funds/Institutional Asset Managers, and global Insurance providers.
- Complex GTM Problem Solving: Ability to navigate the unique procurement, compliance, and regulatory hurdles of the FSI industry and ability to find win wins in seemingly unwinnable deals
- STEM Foundation: An undergraduate degree in Math, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or another relevant technical field (STEM).
- Targeted senior level relationships: Existing Senior-level relationships (CTO, Head of Quant, Head of Alpha Generation) within the Capital Markets and High-Frequency Trading (HFT) industry.
- Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of FSI business drivers and underlying processes that can be enhanced using Quantum, such as Monte Carlo simulations, Derivative Pricing, and Multi-modal Portfolio Optimization.
- AI/ML for FSI: Experience selling AI/ML or high-performance analytics solutions for use by Quants, Risk Managers, and Marketing Analytics users.
- Quantum Literacy: Knowledge of Quantum Technologies (Compute and Networks) specifically as they relate to Quantum Algorithms/ Applications in FSI as well as Quantum enabled cyber security.
- Category Creation: Experience in category creation selling—i.e., creating compelling approaches to sell frontier technology solutions that are not yet a standard line item in IT or R&D budgets.
