The primary purpose of this role is to design and deliver a dynamic Greek Language and Literature curriculum that fosters not only linguistic proficiency but also critical thinking, cultural awareness, and appreciation of Greek literary heritage. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting global literacy within our student body, equipping students with essential communication skills and a deeper understanding of Greek culture and identity within a global context. The role predominantly involves teaching Greek as a foreign language to international students, supporting learners whose first language is not Greek.
Responsibilities
- Teach engaging and interactive lessons aligned with the Secondary curriculum, including the IB Middle Years Programme and the school’s broader educational approach.
Encourage students to explore various aspects of the Greek language, literature, and cultural heritage through inquiry-based learning. - Foster an inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learning styles, abilities, and cultural backgrounds, particularly for students learning Greek as an additional language.
Design and implement effective assessment strategies to evaluate students’ language proficiency, literary analysis skills, and understanding of Greek cultural context. - Guide students in developing strong reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills in the Greek language.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary learning experiences that connect Greek language and literature with other subject areas.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to support students’ academic progress and personal development.
- Maintain accurate records of student achievement and communicate progress with parents and school leadership.
Participate in parent-teacher conferences, departmental meetings, and professional development activities related to the International Baccalaureate where relevant. - Contribute to the school’s extracurricular activities, such as literary clubs, debate activities, cultural events, or language enrichment programs related to Greek language and literature.
- Adhere to all safeguarding and child protection policies in accordance with school procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Greek Language and Literature, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Teaching certification and/or relevant teaching experience, particularly at secondary level.
- Experience with the IB Middle Years Programme or other international secondary curricula is advantageous.
- High proficiency in Greek language and a strong understanding of Greek literature, history, and cultural context.
- Familiarity with inquiry-based learning, differentiated instruction, and student-centered teaching methodologies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate in a diverse, international school environment.

Working Hours
Monday to Friday, 8:00 – 16:00
Recruitment Process
- Hiring team panel interview (30 minutes).
- Trial lesson (60 minutes).
- Interview with the Head of School, Secondary Principal, and Faculty Leader (30 minutes).
