We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Pre-Primary Homeroom Teacher to join our Early Years team within the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP).The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a homeroom class of young learners, creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that supports the holistic development of each child in line with IB philosophy.This role requires a strong commitment to inquiry-based learning, child-centred pedagogy, and the development of social, emotional, and academic foundations in early childhood education.
Responsibilities:
Teaching & Learning
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate high-quality, developmentally appropriate learning experiences aligned with the IB Early Years/PYP framework
- Foster inquiry-based learning through play, exploration, and hands-on experiences
- Support the holistic development of each child (cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and creative)
- Differentiate learning to meet the diverse needs of all students
- Create a rich, engaging, and language-rich classroom environment
Classroom Environment & Pastoral Care
- Establish a safe, caring, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
- Promote positive behaviour through consistent, respectful, and developmentally appropriate strategies
- Support children’s emotional wellbeing, independence, and social skills
- Build strong relationships with students to support their sense of belonging and confidence
IB Programme Implementation
- Deliver the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) Early Years curriculum with fidelity
- Encourage inquiry, play-based learning, and student agency
- Integrate transdisciplinary themes into daily teaching and learning
- Support the development of the IB learner profile attributes in young children
Assessment & Reporting
- Observe, document, and assess student learning using formative assessment strategies
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and development
- Provide regular feedback to parents through reports, meetings, and informal communication
Collaboration & Communication
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, specialist teachers, and year group colleagues
- Maintain open and professional communication with parents and caregivers
- Participate in team planning and curriculum development meetings
School Contribution & Professional Growth
- Participate actively in staff meetings, training sessions, and IB professional development
- Engage in continuous reflection and improvement of teaching practice
- Contribute positively to the wider school community and ethos
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, or related field
- Fluent English (written and spoken)
- Experience in a primary or early years classroom setting
- Strong understanding of child development and early years pedagogy
- Familiarity with the IB PYP framework (preferred but not essential)
- Excellent classroom management skills
- Warm, nurturing, and child-centred approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Positive, flexible, and proactive attitude
- Commitment to continuous professional learning
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:00
