The Department of Nursing Administration at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking an hourly/per diem Assistant Director of Nursing. The successful candidate will:

• Assume responsibility for the department's daily operations, including scheduling of staff to align with units' nursing care hours.
• Serve as a role model, mentor, and manager and must use ethical principles to guide decisions and actions that are consistent with University Hospital of Brooklyn's operating goals and objectives.
• Must use appropriate policies and procedures in the delivery of quality patient care.
• Collect and maintain necessary data to support Process Improvement-Evidence Based practice.
• Ensure the unit council maintains a productive monthly meeting.
• Develop and implement innovative strategies to promote and foster team spirit and boost morale.
• Take an active role in managing services.
• Promote education and professional development for staff, students, and patients.
• Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team/professional staff members in the development of educational goals for the service.
• Direct and enforces compliance with federal state and regulatory agency standards.
• Monitor and promote the improvement of the patient care process.

• New York State Registered Nurse Licensure. 
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Master of Science Degree in Nursing or currently enrolled in a Master's Program.
• 3 to 5 years of active relevant clinical and management and/or progressive leadership experience.
• Current BLS certification.

• ACLS certification.
• Prior leadership accomplishment in nursing.
