Pay Grade/Pay Range:  Minimum: $18.32 - Midpoint: $21.97 (Hourly N4)


Department/Organization: 504103 - Grounds


Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:00am to 2:30pm


Job Summary: The Irrigation Technician installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs underground sprinkler/irrigation systems. May supervise and train other Grounds employees. Drives from site-to-site.


Additional Department Summary: Leaves the work site clean and orderly, ensuring all equipment and tools are clean and securely put away. Over 8-hour days may be required based on the condition of the grounds and campus event schedules, including home football games. Requires work in all types of weather conditions and temperatures.


Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of underground electric and hydraulic irrigation system installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair experience.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.


Skills and Knowledge: Ability to read and comprehend blueprints of the irrigation system. Good communication skills. Ability to operate a variety of job-related tools, equipment, and machinery used in groundskeeping operations, including chemical supplies. Ability to work overtime, sometimes on short notice. Ability to work long days, on your feet, standing, walking, lifting, and carrying.


Preferred Qualifications: Professional leadership experience. Familiarity with Toro and Rain Bird Irrigation Products.
