The Prevention Services Team Lead coordinates school-based, older adult, and other community prevention programs designed to promote mental health and reduce the impact of alcohol and other substance use.
This role combines direct prevention education with program coordination, quality oversight, documentation, and community engagement.
You will help ensure prevention services consistently meet established standards while supporting effective scheduling, reporting, data collection, and program outcomes.
The position also contributes to developing new prevention initiatives, strengthening community partnerships, and identifying appropriate referral resources for individuals who may need additional support.
You will collaborate with families, educators, colleagues, and community stakeholders while maintaining accurate and confidential records.
This is a hands-on, community-facing role requiring sound judgment, strong organization, and a commitment to prevention-focused services.
The position is full-time and based in Toledo, Ohio, with regular community travel and occasional evening or weekend activities.
- Coordinate school-based prevention, older adult prevention, and other assigned prevention services while maintaining program standards and schedules.
- Deliver prevention education through psychoeducational groups, classroom presentations, structured activities, and family education sessions.
- Provide individuals and families with appropriate referral options when signs or symptoms of alcohol or other substance-related concerns are identified.
- Educate parents and guardians on prevention topics and alcohol and other substance use.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation for individual and group prevention services through web-based systems.
- Collect and maintain program data to support quality measurement, reporting, and continuous improvement.
- Assist with the development, innovation, implementation, and evaluation of prevention programs and procedures.
- Contribute to RFP and grant-writing activities supporting prevention services and program development.
- Develop programming and prevention procedures addressing alcohol and other substance use and related community needs.
- Participate in departmental committees, organizational projects, and community activities while maintaining productive relationships with colleagues and partners.
- Monitor developments and emerging trends relevant to prevention services and continuously strengthen professional knowledge and capabilities.
- Use technology, information systems, and software applications effectively while following organizational security and confidentiality requirements.
- Plan, prioritize, and organize activities to meet service expectations, deadlines, productivity requirements, and quality standards.
- Exercise sound judgment when assessing information, resolving issues, and determining appropriate actions.
- Respond professionally and in a trauma-informed manner when working with individuals experiencing behavioral, emotional, or crisis-related situations.
Requirements
~2 min read- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related mental health field.
- Experience providing prevention education is required.
- Certified as a Prevention Specialist in the state of Ohio, with active credentials maintained in good standing.
- Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and proof of personal auto insurance sufficient to meet vehicle-insurance requirements.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft 365, Word, Excel, internet-based tools, and web-based reporting systems.
- Background in mental health, social work, psychology, education, or another related discipline is preferred.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Ability to communicate professionally with clients, families, educators, colleagues, and community partners.
- Ability to analyze information, exercise sound judgment, reach timely conclusions, and take appropriate action.
- Ability to work independently while appropriately seeking supervision, feedback, and guidance when needed.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive client information and records.
- Willingness to work onsite during regular business hours and conduct community-based fieldwork as required.
- Availability for occasional evening and weekend activities, trainings, community events, and prevention initiatives.
- Ability to travel regularly throughout the service area using a personal vehicle, with mileage reimbursed according to applicable policy.
- Ability to work professionally and safely with individuals who may be experiencing behavioral, emotional, or crisis-related situations.
