First-time parents based in Brooklyn, New York City, are seeking an experienced live-out Newborn Care Specialist to provide overnight support following the arrival of their newborn towards the end of December. The newborn care specialist will join the family at the end of January 2027, and will work Sunday-Thursday nights from 8pm-8am. The booking will continue for 3-4 months and could transition into a daily nanny role for interested candidates, although this is by no means a requirement. There may be some domestic travel during the booking and, should the position transition into an infant nanny role, then please expect some international travel as well. Please also be flexible for occasional/ad-hoc Friday and Saturday night care as well.
The family is looking for someone who can provide experienced, nurturing overnight care while helping establish a consistent feeding and sleep routine as the baby grows.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Prioritise the safety and well-being of the baby at all times, providing attentive and nurturing overnight care
- →Maintain a calm, positive and supportive environment
- →Develop and establish a structure and routine when appropriate, gently encouraging healthy sleep and feed schedules
- →Manage overnight feeds, diaper changes, burping, settling and soothing
- →Maintain a calm, safe and comfortable environment for the baby overnight
- →Baby's laundry, bottle sterilising (if required), and cleaning of toys and other baby items
- →Keep parents informed about overnight feeds, sleep patterns and any notable changes
- →Follow the parents’ preferences and approach to newborn care
- →Provide practical guidance and reassurance to the parents during the early newborn stage
Requirements
~1 min read- Previous professional night nanny experience is required
- Demonstrable experience caring for newborns
- Strong knowledge of newborn feeding, sleep and settling
- Warm, nurturing and attentive approach, comfortable with gentle sleep training and stretching overnight feeds
- Reliable, punctual and professional
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Ability to work independently while maintaining close communication with the parents
- Extremely experienced with relevant qualifications and excellent, verifiable references
- Tidy, quiet, organised and discreet
- There are two friendly cats in the household, so candidates should not be allergic, or adverse to working alongside them!
- Candidates MUST have up to date infant First Aid and CPR certification
