Key Responsibilities: Plan, organize, coordinate, give strategic and tactical direction of all shipping, utilities and projects activities in line with the business strategy of the company. Ensure the smooth administration of the department & units through effective supervision of subordinates and the activities. Monitor, supervise and liaise with customs, law enforcement agencies, banks and shipping agents to ensure company goods are cleared without incurring demurrage. Liaise with clearing agents to ensure that company consignments are cleared within stipulated contract period and delivered to its assigned destination without additional cost. Effectively supervise capital projects set up or embarked upon by the management and ensure prompt payment of custom duties and client bills and other budgeted allocation of projects as contained in the corporate governance manual of the company. Ensure all necessary documents required by clearing agents to execute clearing contract are issued without delay. Ensure the perfection of all entries/exchange control to avoid customs penalty. Track and monitor all import purchases orders. Vet prospective agents and recommend their suitability or otherwise. Ensure accurate records keeping in the unit and forwarding of all vetted bills for payment. Prepare periodic reports to executive management within approval limits. Perform any other duties assigned by your supervisor. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. Professional certification such as CILT, IATA/FIATA, or customs brokerage is an added advantage. Minimum of 4–5 years of experience in customs clearance, freight forwarding, or shipping operations, preferably in a manufacturing or FMCG environment. Strong knowledge of customs documentation (Bill of Lading, Form M, PAAR, etc.), demurrage avoidance, customs tariffs, HS code classification, and exchange control. Experience liaising with customs, law enforcement agencies, banks, shipping agents, and clearing agents. Proven ability to track imports purchase orders, vet agents, and maintain accurate records. Ability to supervise capital projects and track payment of customs duties, client bills, and project allocations per corporate governance. Strong analytical, documentation, and reporting skills. Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple consignments simultaneously.
