Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the shop to ensure smooth and efficient functioning.
  • Allocate daily duties and responsibilities to shop staff and monitor their performance.
  • Receive, check, process, and organize shipments and deliveries in accordance with established procedures.
  • Verify the quality, quantity, and condition of incoming merchandise and report any discrepancies or damages.
  • Maintain adequate stock levels and ensure timely replenishment of depleted or low-stock items.
  • Monitor stock movement and assist with monthly inventory counts and inventory reporting.
  • Ensure accurate stock records are maintained and investigate discrepancies where required.
  • Monitor product displays and maintain the highest standards of visual merchandising.
  • Ensure all merchandise is properly priced, labelled, displayed, and arranged according to established guidelines.
  • Conduct regular price audits and ensure any discrepancies are corrected promptly.
  • Monitor daily sales and assist the Shop Manager with achieving departmental sales targets.
  • Promote shop products, promotions, special offers, and seasonal campaigns to customers.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure customer satisfaction at all times.
  • Interact with customers professionally, identify their needs and preferences, and recommend suitable products.
  • Handle customer complaints and concerns professionally and escalate unresolved issues to the Shop Manager.
  • Operate and monitor the shop's Point of Sale (POS) system and ensure accurate processing of customer payments.
  • Ensure proper cash handling, cash reconciliation, and end-of-shift procedures are followed.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures, including securing the shop and ensuring all equipment is switched off as required.
  • Monitor shop security and ensure established loss-prevention procedures are strictly followed.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, hygiene, and security procedures within the shop.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sales floor, storage areas, counters, windows, mirrors, fixtures, and other shop facilities.
  • Ensure the shop is adequately staffed during operating hours and coordinate staff breaks and duty schedules.
  • Coach, guide, and support shop staff to improve product knowledge, customer service, and sales skills.
  • Provide feedback on staff performance and report any performance or disciplinary concerns to the Shop Manager.
  • Assist with training and onboarding of new shop employees.
  • Monitor staff attendance, grooming, uniform presentation, and adherence to departmental standards.
  • Ensure all staff maintain excellent grooming and personal hygiene standards.
  • Prepare or assist with daily, weekly, and monthly operational and sales reports as required.
  • Monitor customer feedback and identify opportunities to improve the shopping experience and sales performance.
  • Coordinate with other departments regarding guest requests, promotions, deliveries, and operational requirements.
  • Ensure all resort policies, procedures, and standards are consistently followed.
  • Comply with Resort Safety & Environment policies, initiatives, and applicable legislation.
  • Abide by all Workplace Health, Safety, and Hygiene regulations at all times.
  • Abide by the guidelines set out in the Employee Handbook.
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by management from time to time.
  • Specific financial measures of performance: Sales targets, revenue generation, stock control, and reduction of stock variances to be agreed at each appraisal.
  • Specific non-financial measures of performance: Customer satisfaction, service standards, visual merchandising, inventory accuracy, staff performance, compliance, and operational efficiency to be agreed upon recruitment and at each appraisal.
  • Frequency of appraisal: Performance to be appraised bi-annually.
  • Appraiser: To be appraised by the Shop Manager / Retail Manager.
