We are seeking a highly skilled HVAC Journeyman Technician with extensive heavy chiller and building controls experience to join our service team. This position is responsible for advanced troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and optimization of large commercial and industrial HVAC systems. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong diagnostic skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to deliver exceptional service to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, service, repair, and maintain large tonnage chillers (air-cooled and water-cooled) including centrifugal, screw, and scroll systems).
  • Perform advanced HVAC controls troubleshooting and programming (DDC/BAS systems).
  • Commission, start up, and optimize chiller and controls systems for peak performance.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control system issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on chillers, cooling towers, pumps, boilers, and related equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
  • Document service activities, repairs, and recommendations accurately and timely.
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding system conditions and repair needs.
  • Comply with all safety regulations, EPA standards, and company policies.
  • Mentor apprentices or less-experienced technicians as needed.

Requirements

  • Current Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) HVAC Journeyman License.
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification (required).
  • Minimum 5+ years of commercial HVAC experience, including heavy chiller systems.
  • Strong experience with HVAC controls and BAS/DDC platforms.
  • Advanced electrical troubleshooting skills (low and high voltage).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces.
  • Factory training or certifications on major chiller brands.
  • Controls programming or commissioning experience.
  • Experience in hospitals, industrial facilities, or large commercial buildings.
