Maintenance Operators provide operational and maintenance services to both the Kenora Moncrief Construction Sports Centre and Bowman Electric Keewatin Memorial Arena recreational facilities. This includes completing repairs as needed, assessing and troubleshooting problems, and executing preventative maintenance programs. They will perform day-to-day maintenance duties such as regular cleaning of dressing rooms and public spaces, routine ice maintenance and flooding, and pool operations including water balancing and filtration systems. Work may include operating small tools/equipment, performing basic maintenance of refrigeration systems, mechanical systems, and record keeping.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have a Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess and maintain a clean valid ‘G’ Class Ontario Driver’s License.
  • Must have a minimum one (1) years building maintenance experience
  • Must have proven work-related experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, pool filtration, boilers, or HVAC in professional/commercial setting
  • Experience operating a Bobcat is considered an asset
  • Valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card is considered an asset
  • Must have familiarity with office related programs with ability to learn new programs
  • Knowledge of Instrumentation and Control Systems would be considered an asset
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs. frequently and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and walk extended periods of time
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communications skills with a proven focus on service delivery
  • Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations specifically concerning the requirements for job hazard analysis and the development of and training on safe work procedures
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Ability to get along well with others including supervisors, coworkers, members of the public and other partners in service


Job Summary: 

  • Cleaning, monitoring and upkeeping all public and staffed areas within the recreational facilities, arena refrigeration system, building mechanical systems, automation systems and security systems
  • Regular sweeping and mopping of change rooms, washrooms, meeting and banquet facilities, and public and staffed spaces 
  • Regular checks of refrigeration plant, quality of ice surfaces, and equipment is running safely and efficiently 
  • Ensure proper pool operations including verifying proper pool water chemistry, maintenance of pool filtration systems, water balancing and pool operation duties
