About the Role
~1 min readAs the Senior Director of FP&A you will report to the CFO and serve as a key financial thought partner to Kikoff's leadership team as the company continues its significant and profitable growth. You will own the company's financial planning, forecasting, and analysis functions, translating complex business dynamics into actionable financial insight that drives strategic decision-making. You will work closely with the CFO and cross-functional leaders to build the financial infrastructure, analytical frameworks, and planning processes that a pre-IPO fintech company demands. The ideal candidate combines rigorous financial analysis with strong business instincts, an AI mindset, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders with clarity and confidence.
The Senior Director of FP&A will initially manage a team of 3–4, with the opportunity to grow the function as Kikoff's business continues to scale. The role will be located in our San Francisco office (in office 3 days/week).
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Own Kikoff's annual operating budget, quarterly plans, weekly/daily forecasts, and long-range financial model, ensuring they reflect business realities and support strategic decision-making
- →Lead FP&A team that builds and maintains financial models that capture the unit economics, marketing acquisition/retention analytics, cohort dynamics, and revenue drivers specific to Kikoff's businesses
- →Serve as a trusted financial partner to business leaders across marketing, product, engineering, and operations - translating financial data into clear guidance and actionable recommendations
- →Help to define the company’s key metrics and drive alignment and adoption in close partnership with our Data team, while leveraging and pushing AI adoption
- →Prepare and present executive and board-level financial reporting packages, including monthly financial reporting package, board decks, KPI dashboards, and forward-looking commentary
- →Lead scenario planning and sensitivity analysis to support strategic initiatives, new product launches, and capital allocation decisions
- →Partner with the Corporate Controller and accounting team to ensure alignment between financial reporting and operational forecasts
- →Own the selection and development of Kikoff's planning systems and financial infrastructure, driving adoption of best-in-class tools and processes
- →Support fundraising, investor relations, and M&A processes as needed, including preparation of investor materials and financial due diligence
- →Build, develop, and grow a high-performing FP&A team, setting a high bar for analytical rigor, business judgment, communication and cross-functional collaboration
- 12+ years of experience in FP&A, investment banking, or a related financial discipline, with significant industry experience at a high-growth company
- Background at a late-stage or public fintech, or e-commerce / marketplace / internet company with high transaction volumes preferred
- Investment banking experience preferred — candidates with IB backgrounds who have successfully transitioned into operating FP&A roles are strongly encouraged to apply
- MBA preferred; demonstrated track record of financial leadership at a later-stage pre-IPO or newly public company strongly valued
- Experience with modern planning systems required — Adaptive Planning, Anaplan, or comparable tools; ability to own the roadmap and optimization of Kikoff's planning infrastructure
- AI-first mindset with a track record of driving cross-functional adoption of AI tools in financial analysis and planning workflows
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex financial analysis into clear, compelling narratives for executive and board audiences
- Expert financial modeler with deep experience building driver-based models that capture unit economics, cohort behavior, and multi-product revenue dynamics
- Comfortable operating as a player-coach — willing to roll up sleeves on detailed analysis and models while managing and developing a growing team
- Strong communication skills to build deep, collaborative relationships across Kikoff’s teams
- High business acumen, intellectual curiosity, and a track record of building credibility and trust with senior cross-functional stakeholders
