  • This is a unique opportunity for consulting professionals, particularly those with Machinery of Government (MoG) experience, strong programme/project backgrounds, or change management capability to be part of work that shapes national programmes, improves service delivery, and drives measurable impact.
  • Whether your strengths lie in BBC methodology, operational readiness and transitions, public sector operating model design, large‑scale project delivery, or change, we have pathways for you to thrive.
  • Lead workstreams and project teams across complex engagements, delivering high-quality insights and recommendations.
  • Support major transformation programmes with project delivery, including requirements definition, PMO support, or change management expertise.
  • Apply your MoG knowledge from BBC frameworks to operational delivery, transition, business cases, and operating model design to help clients make evidence‑based decisions.
  • Contribute to business development through proposal writing, thought leadership, and enhancing KPMG methodologies.
  • Work confidently at pace across multiple engagements, keeping a sharp eye on detail.
  • Build KPMG’s reputation through strong judgement, client service excellence, and fresh, innovative thinking.
  • You’ll bring a mix of skills and experience in either one of the following areas:
  • Background in MoG with strong familiarity in Better Business Case (BBC) methodology.
  • MoG operational delivery experience, including operational readiness, transition, operating model design, business case development, or Op Pol‑type responsibilities.
  • Project/Programme/PMO experience from either the public or private sector.
  • Change Management capability, ideally across large transformation programmes.
  • Big 4, general consulting, or strong public sector background aligned to our core service offerings.

  • You’ll also bring:
  • Proven consulting experience and the ability to build lasting client relationships.
  • Strong business development skills and the confidence to identify and grow opportunities.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how to apply its principles in public sector policy, operating model design, and transformation.
  • Practical experience working with Māori stakeholders, including the ability to integrate Māori perspectives and aspirations into project delivery.
  • Commitment to growing capability in te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo through KPMG’s He Kōtui development pathways.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Experience coaching or mentoring junior team members.
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities and a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • A can‑do attitude, drive, and a pragmatic mindset to deliver work that creates tangible value.
