The Sr. Manager, Language Services Workforce Operations will oversee the strategic planning, deployment, and optimization of the Language Services workforce across all venues (i.e., competition and non-competition venues). This role ensures the right mix of skilled staff and volunteers are available to support interpretation and related services throughout the Games. The position plays a key leadership role in coordinating workforce logistics, volunteer management, scheduling, and operational readiness to meet event demands efficiently and effectively.
Responsibilities

- →Manage staff planning and oversee volunteer programs for language support volunteers.
- →Direct volunteer recruitment, vetting, onboarding, and training initiatives.
- →Collaborate closely with cross-functional areas including press operations, protocol and NCS (National Olympic & Paralympic Committee Services).
- →Develop and manage workforce shift plans aligned with competition and venue schedules.
- →Forecast and allocate workforce resources based on event timelines and service needs.
- →Oversee workforce deployment in key areas such as competition venues, Athlete Villages, Main Press Centre (MPC), International Broadcast Center (IBC), and Press Conference Center (PCO).
- →Monitor operational performance and provide regular workforce reports to leadership.
- →Drive continuous improvement in workforce utilization, engagement, and service quality.
Requirements
~1 min read- 7+ years of experience in staffing, scheduling, and deployment of both paid staff and volunteer workforces, ideally in complex or high-volume event environments.
- Demonstrated background in language services, translation/interpretation operations, or multilingual program management is strongly preferred.
- Experience managing volunteer programs end-to-end, including recruitment, vetting, credentialing, onboarding, and training at scale.
- Prior involvement in major sporting events, international events, or Olympic/Paralympic Games (or equivalent mega-events) is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership skills
- Ability to build and motivate high-performing teams and volunteers, fostering engagement, trust, and a shared sense of purpose
- Collaborate effectively across functions, navigating complex stakeholder needs and aligning priorities to deliver seamless outcomes
- Stay agile and solutions-oriented under pressure, quickly adapting to changing conditions and resolving issues in real time
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience required, preferably in Linguistics, Translation/Interpretation, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Master’s degree strongly preferred, particularly in Organizational Leadership, Applied Linguistics, Business, or a similar discipline that supports strategic workforce planning.
- Language industry–specific training or certifications (e.g., ATA, ISO 17100, localization project management credentials) are advantageous and signal familiarity with translation and interpretation standards.
- Strong knowledge of another language besides English is preferred.
Requirements

- Most work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.
- The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment
The annual base salary range for this position is $105,000-$140,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
