Responsibilities

- →Calibrate, repair, maintain and demonstrate welding equipment. Metal fabrication equipment, saws, and air handling systems.
- →Develop and implement scheduled maintenance and testing program.
- →Maintain inventory records of welding laboratory equipment, materials and supplies in accordance with college requirements and accepted industrial standards.
- →Ship, receive and inspect and maintain records of equipment sent to service locations.
- →Prepare equipment, materials and experiments for lab classes. Work with faculty to design, build, test, install and adapt special equipment and devices for instructional requirements.
- →Write specifications and order materials and supplies.
- →Assist students with set up of projects as directed by faculty.
- →Coordinate with faculty the acquisition, filing, and maintenance of reference materials; maintain operating manuals, parts catalogs, and specifications for equipment and devices.
- →Perform tasks in support of the daily operation of the Welding and Metal Fabrication labsr: train, schedule and oversee lab assistants and workers; prepare equipment, operating and lab experiment manuals and provide technical assistance for jobs.
- →Provide assistance to faculty in development of lab activities.
- →May assist with or deliver best practice seminars for part-time faculty in welding; how to keep a gradebook, how to develop activities, how to write a syllabus etc.

Requirements

~1 min read- Associate’s degree or higher in a related field.
- Experience teaching welding and metal fabrication.
- Familiarity with best practices in the teaching of skilled trades and CTE.
- CTE teaching licensure or certification is preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience that provide the knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable.
- Knowledge of basic welding tools, methods and supplies needed to maintain and test equipment.
- Skills in operating, calibrating, and maintaining mechanical, electrical, and industrial equipment and tools; reading and interpreting drawings, blueprints, circuit diagrams and specifications, gas and arc welding and brazing.
- Skills in communicating and working effectively with faculty and students.
- Ability to learn and properly apply departmental policies and procedures, diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment and circuit problems; work independently, maintain effective interpersonal working relationships
- Heavy - Mostly standing and lifting over 50 lbs. frequently.
- This is a part-time (hours will vary depending on department needs) continuing staff position.
- The hourly salary is $20.94 at grade 8A of the staff salary schedule.
